When I went from the F-16, these felt like bicycles. But the F-5 is a fucking living machine. You can fly it in an entirely different way. In supersonic speed you need to use a lot more stick movements to fluctuate, and the wind sound at low altitude is absolutely hellish. Besides, you can slip backwards in the air during flight acrobatics, something management systems in the F-16 prevents. Real flight skills are required because you have no systems that prevents you to pluck the wings of the hull or choke engines if you're too reckless.

Placing modern electronic, radar, reactors on a already existent platform would make it perform well while staying at a moderate cost. This extra money mean more money for something else, like a gen 6 drone in 20 years.

They A-10 evolved more from the Hawker Hurricane, Hawker Typhoon and P-47 Thunderbolt. The stuka did a similar job but it was designed as a dive bomber more than a long-loiter strike/CAS aircraft. No The USAF uses the shit out of the B-2, you just never here about it or see them because they are damned hard to track and near invisible when dropping bombs. THey used to fly non stop from Holloman in the US to Afghanistan to remove kebab, so their actual strike missions were indistinguishable from training flights. the bomber we have but almost never use is the lancer because it's mission (Low level Supersonic Penetration)was to fuck up heavily defend airspace, which we haven't done since the gulf war. Lancer's are terribly inefficient in terms of operating cost vs kebab removed, so they just chill while the bomb delivery vans like the 52 do the heavy lifting. If we ever end up fighting Iran or North Korea you'll see Lancer's doing Lancer thing again.
