This is true. The AR is pretty ubiquitous. As an AK owner I can confirm that it is hard to find spare parts and since most AK ammo is steel core it is hard to find indoor ranges that let you shoot it. Don't get me wrong I love my AK and wouldnt trade it for an AR, but everything about owning an AR is more convenient, except malfunctions and other crap that happens to AR's.
My AK will never break, I will need to physically destroy the gun to make it stop working. AR's can be finnicky and queeny. They need to be cleaned alot (generally, not all AR's are like this).
High end guns like the HCAR or SCAR are super badass. They have AK like reliability and AR precision.

You typical military pattern AK will shoot 4-8 MOA with cheap ammo; probably not much better than 4 with match. If you build one to be accurate, you lose points in reliability, and it'll cost you a heap of money too. May as well just get an AR if accuracy from a semi is what you want.
At most, a long barreled match AK will be a 600 meter rifle with optics on a man (this isn't your typical AK). Even then, your ballistics are shit at that range, and expect misses unless you have very accurate range estimations.
7.5x55 is about the same as .308, so you have have 800 meters certain (COM hit time after time if you do your job), and over 1000 if you go for maximum range possible like 600 for the AK. You really have twice the effective range when you add in accuracy differences.
Sure, 7.62x39mm penetrates well, but it has a shit permanent cavity with hunting JSPs compared to .308-level. Plus, since velocity loss is quick, you'll probably be poking holes at over 200 meters. Not to mention you shouldn't take a shot on an animal with that cartridge at that range. Under 100, sure.
If you're hunting bear, you really should use .308 minimum to ensure a quicker kill.
So. how is it better at anything but close range? Even then, I'd rather 1 MOA compared to 4 at 100 yards, with far more power.

If you've got 2 ARs, you may as well go for something different unless you really want an AK. If you must go with a semi, a FAL or Dragunov-copy (Saiga?) would be a lot better if you don't have anything in the .308-class. Garand or M1A too.

Older German-made sigs have carbon steel slides and are prone to rust. This is a known fact. Its also a known fact that they are less expensive than their non german counterparts which use stainless and coatings.
The HK Mk23 slide has a proprietary treatment and also coating on almost all its parts. The gun is literally rust proof.
