/pol/, I so want to believe but is it truly possible to meme a man into the White House?
>>
Well we managed to meme hard enough to keep Miliband out of power
>>
It's happening as we speak.

Believe.

Just look at UKIP. Only one seat but 13 million votes. Memes can't make miracles happen (our electoral system is a bit shit) but they sure as hell influence reality.

How do you think they got Obama in there?

>13 million

I think you're getting votes and percentage of votes confused...

what fucking reality do you live in?
>>

How the fuck is it possible to take 20% of the population's vote, and give them 1 seat?
That doesn't make logic.
Trudope got 35% of the vote, and in majority government.
How, UK. How?

Because they only won a single constituency. Every other party has areas that vote for them consistently with only a few constituencies actually changing their vote every election (i.e. swing-states).

Here in Sheepistan, my constituency overwhelmingly votes for the Labour Party every election, for example. UKIP didn't get any seats because their votes are spread out over the whole country, and not concentrated enough to actually win constituancies.

As a result, parties that got far fewer votes overall ended up with more influence than UKIP, just because that party's voters are all from the same place. UKIP got the third most votes in the election, only behind the Conservatives and Labour, but because of gerrymandering and the lack of proportional representation, they only got a single seat.

Is /pol/ really using memes for its goals or are the memes using /pol/ as a platform to come to life? Memes are a double edged sword and we can never know who is truly controlling who.
