Cars don't have testicles. Unless you're a redneck who bolts on some truck nutz.

Cars are not male or female. They have nothing to do with your masculinity. Possessions in general do not make you more or less masculine, but they are often used to compensate by the insecure.

A car is a tool. The considerations for a tool, if you are rational, consist of stuff like efficiency, endurance, durability, price and so on. "How manly it makes me look" does not enter into it unless you are mentally a child.

Jeeps are objectively bad vehicles. They have poor handling, poor fuel efficiency, poor crash testing ratings, poor reliability, and they are slow as shit. Hell they aren't even that good at offloading without modification. They fail at every reliable metric that we attach to an automobile.

There just ins't an excuse to drive one. Jeep owners are telling the world with their purchase that they lack any critical thinking and prefer to own possessions without any inkling of quality.
>>
>>59969523

Bullshit

And you are only going to have a choice of what they have in stock in your location the day you are renting

Car rental is the antithesis of choice

I know they're working on it, have been for years. It's far from perfect though.
The big issue jus that clearance height is measured once for most overpasses. Over the years, conditions change that make the official brought inaccurate. Also, computers tend to look for the shortest route, which might be longer on account of realistic speed limitations. Mountain passes are a good example of that.
All said, if you really want to argue trucking being computerized, that's fine, but it will come at the same pace as personal vehicles doing the same.

you're basically driving a semi at this point
>>
>>59977338
I understand that. Self driving trucks are still experimental and subject to flaws, though. Eventually, I'm sure it will be common, but only when all cars are also automated. The biggest problem that trucks face are cars. Machines need the reaction, understanding of surroundings, etc, to drive as well as a human. That will take time.
>>
>>59976610

Not his fault your roads are glorified sidewalks.
>>
>>59978611
Legally, it is a semi here as in you need a commercial drivers license to drive one due to the excessive weight (IIRC since it's an F650, it clocks in about 7 metric tonnes)

>>59978633
Not gonna argue that, British roads are appalling, both in size and quality.
>>
>>59978549
No idea how, but I guess I just got super lucky. And I bought it about a month ago. I didn't know how to drive manual, but I learned in about 2 days, The only thing that rustles me about it, is that it doesn't have an aux cord connector, so I have to use a shitty fm transmitter.
>>
>>59975283
I bought mine cuz it was cheaper than all the quad cabs but It turns out I really like how dodge made theirs. 5.7L v8 in a little truck and it hauls ass but on the highway it steps down to 4 cylinders and I get like 13l/100km out of it. Best of both worlds, steers like a car and its small enough to squeeze into places and its fast as hell but I still get to sit up high with lots of cab space and ground clearance from a truck, 10/10 would recommend.
>>
>>59971457
Why are all these modern metro cars styled to look like toddler toys? Makes me instantly think it's marketed towards man children. At least give it some real style. I agree that would be a fun city go kart, but it looks gay as fuck. Half the people driving them have corny "IAMSMART" esque license plates.
>>

Take care of it, Jags are fantastic if you keep on top of the maintenance.

>Sold it back to the dealer I bought it from for £500
>It's still sitting on the backlot, slowly rusting away

And then I bought a BMW with no rear brakes, followed by a Saab with a bad immobilizer. I really need to stop buying cars for less than a grand.

X type is a literal Ford Mondeo in a tuxedo, not a bad car but not really a true jag. That said, Mondeos are some pretty good cars in their own right, so really it's a cheap Mondeo with leather seats.

$3000 seems a bit much, but that might due to manual tax in America. I can pick them up in good nick for about £1200 here. (~$1800)

I might get one a bit further down the line, I've always liked small V6s

>>
>>59979984
Cheers, otherwise I wouldn't of settled with it.

I'm surprised the 1.4 is more popular in some places. Chavs don't want it as it's not appealing to them, and nor do Women, as they prefer even smaller cars.

1.7's seem to be quite popular around north Kent, Essex and Stoke though, according to Autotrader

British insurance rates are completely unregulated and highly inflated. It's mandatory (the penalty for not having insurance is a £2000 fine and ta 12 month ban from driving) so the insurance companies know they can get away with shafting us since we have no choice.

I'm not sure if American rates are regulated, but most of the time insurance is pretty expensive. Do you know how much your insurance payment would go up if you had 2 or 3 cars?
Here in the US having 2 cars won't kill your wallet insurance-wise, but having more than that and your payment will pretty bad.

When the BMW failed its MOT (road worthiness test, kinda like smog in California, but more in depth and applies to more than just emissions) I tried to get the Saab on the same insurance, so I could drive the Saab while fixing up the BMW.

Both on the same policy would have been a £90 payment up front, plus spiking my payment from £62 to £126 a month. So I went with just the Saab at £92 a month and sold the BMW.

I kind of miss it but i needed a shit tone of work.

Here in the UK we have yearly MOTs.

They check your wipers, emissions, frame rust, tyre tread, brakes, ABS (if you have it), headlight alignment and some other stuff I forget, and if they aren't within a certain "safe" area your MOT is refused until it's fixed.

It keeps the worst deathtraps off the road, but at the same time fails a lot of good cars on shit like no windscreen wiper fluid, or not enough tread on your spare tyre.

Must-have 1: Amazing MPG

While other vehicles make their competitive claims within a few MPGs of one another, we needed Elio to take it to the stratosphere. As we continue to engineer the Elio for up to 84 MPG, we officially have liftoff.
Must-have 2: Uncompromised Safety

Elio is engineered to the highest safety standards. Each Elio comes equipped with a Safety Management System that includes three airbags – a reinforced roll-cage frame, Anti-Lock Braking System, and 50% larger crush zones than similar vehicles.
Must-have 3: All-American Pedigree

Elio is American-made with 90% North American content, and we have re-engineered existing technology throughout. That means no trial and error anywhere. Just tried and true everywhere.
Must-have 4: Low Price

It seems like everything just costs more today. Houses, cars, heck, even a gallon of milk and a box of cereal. At Elio Motors, we believe wallets need a break. A new vehicle targeted $6,800 base price is not just what people want. It’s what they need.

Interesting factoid, Ford of Britain was actually far more successful in the 70s, 80s and 90s than daddy Ford, so successful that today the majority of Ford cars on the road in America were designed by Ford of Europe (formerly Ford of Britain/Germany)

The Focus, Fiesta, Ka, Mondeo and Transit are all Ford of Europe designs.

But yeah, I'm pathetic because of a lack of knowledge that I would realistically use once. I try not to make a habit of buying cars with problems that make them undriveble. This unfortunately isn't America where I have a 4 car garage I can rebuild shit in, or shittons of land. I've got a shitty council flat, a parking spot and a tiny shed that barely fits my Saab leaving no space to work on it.

I do maint on the side of the road, but major fixes are out of my reach, unless you want to donate all the books and tools I'd need to refurbish a 25 year old gearbox that's probably never seen a fluid change.

I suppose it makes sense since the nazis were environmentalists.

Just pointing out that I have a different set of skills due to a different upbringing, and the lack of knowledge about fucking automatic transmissions is a result of that.

Because they are insecure. This is why their cars maximize safety. Of course form follows function, and so the safety design found by toy engineers is not coincidentally the ideal design for an adult sized "safety" car.

you think we arte just like you, soft weak unskilled kludges who serve at the feet of Elton John in a tiara.

out here in the west especially (not so much in the faggy east coast metroplexes) when you need something done you do it yourself

we have an independent streak that precludes accepting muzzie trash in our towns, sharia zones or surrendering our guns.

Driving one of those cars is the vehicular equivalent of crossdressing.

>having no masculinity so you have to rely on not wearing a dress to make you look masculine

Believe me mate, I'm trying hard to rise above the shite, but it's hard when your entire life has been dictated by the state, for the state.

Although I still fail to see how lacking the knowledge to rebuild a shitty tranny makes me pathetic

>>59988200

what makes you pathetic is that

1) you foolishly purchased a car without at least having a mechanic look it over
2) when it malfunctioned you didnt fix it, you fobbed it back to the same cock that sold it to you for a 300 quid loss
3) then you did it AGAIN.

that is foolishness.
and then you pretended that you were somehow VIRTUOUS because you are unable to repair a car but still try to get a "deal" from a guy who makes his living selling cars for MORE THAN THEY ARE WORTH.

thats what "car dealers" actually do.
they dont sell cars.
they sell stories
the car is a macguffin. he could be selling magazine subscriptions, swamp land in arizona or the eiffel tower.

a "salesman" who sells shit for what it's actually worth goes broke.

and you keep going back for more.

if you cant buy a shit car and make it worth more than it was before then buy a GOOD car and stop crying.

>1) you foolishly purchased a car without at least having a mechanic look it over
Yep, I was a retard
>2) when it malfunctioned you didnt fix it, you fobbed it back to the same cock that sold it to you for a 300 quid loss
What was I supposed to do, shell out a fortune to have it fixed? Take a college course in automotive repair so I could fix it? Spend months trying to punt it on the private market?
>3) then you did it AGAIN.
No I didn't? Every car since I've bought has been in decent enough condition when I bought it, and all from private sellers.

And well aware of stealers NOW, I'm just noting that at the time I was hopelessly naive and did the best thing at the time and got rid of a car that now needed repairs far in excess of it's worth so it wasn't taking up what little space I have.

You seem to be going off on a tirade, berating mistakes I know I have made, and have since learned from, literally years after they happened. I would even go as far to say you're projecting your own issues onto others, since you're assuming a shit ton that I haven't even hinted at.
