This time there were lots of cops, CRS and everything ; every one of them was ordered to protect the district from citizens who wanted to protest. Like you've seen, they've put up anti-riot shields, and when the protesters saw them, most of them went to the prefecture to protest there instead.
Some still managed to pass though, not as numerous because it would be too hard to wreck anything right now as this protest was really spontaneous and unprepared. However I can say this much :
- lots of cops went in the buildings of the district to carry out searches. Most of the residents who weren't suspects (understand "not arabic") were used as witnesses who went to the police department the evening to sign people vouch for what they saw.
- the district is a fucking mess : all of the scum living in there did some shitty barricades as they are afraid as hell. Then the police came and created mayhem by searching apartments for proofs.
We'll see how it escalates in the next week : December 31st will be very interesting. One more incident would be enough to spark it all, just one man injured and it's a civil war. The government did not try to calm things down and every major media is against those protests.
