What will political infrastructure and people be like when robots replace skilled and unskilled laborers?

Same as it is now.

Small number of ultra-rich and everyone else.

Like it is right now but worse.

Just imagine 3-5x more unemployment in the near future.

People keep forcing this meme as if they find it acceptable that we're going to let AI takeover our world
>>
>>58988224
Face it, people are lazy. Just like robots pushed out factory workers, it starts out small, increasing the demand for higher level education white collar jobs. Soon it will develop further into robots taking up everything.

All memes and shit posting aside, it's a serious issue. Automation warnings have fallen on death ears for a few years, but now normies are finally realizing.

We're at a crossroads. The elite can either acknowledge the economy cannot function with so many people falling out of the work force and support the introduction of citizens income or they will greedily cling onto their wealth and the world will descent into anarchy, civil disorder, mass violence, starvation, poverty etc.

It's not a bad thing

The thing is it will initially cause an enormous amount of disruption. In the long run it's inevitable and positive.
>>
>>58988540
I feel like 2 major problems arrise that prevent it from simply being positive.
A. How will the distribution of currency and the world economy work?
B. How do we make sure robots don't become self aware?

You guys need to stop watching anime and playing video games that depict a technological future as a utopia, and think of the big picture.

We just need to kill poor people then.
What's wrong with that?
>>
There's always work to be done. We'll just have to adapt. After all, automation increases the effectiveness of our economy. We'll find a way and adapt.
>>
>>58988899
Its actually happening now. We are experiencing the chip of the iceberg tho.

Large businesses are cutting back production employment left right and center. Now we have too man people and not enough jobs.

we are going to have and economic revolution or a civil revolution. Because simple being employed isn't worth shit anymore and its going to get worse as retail and service industries become automated.

While new and different jobs are always being made for people the problem is those new jobs don't make up the vast majority of the workforce.
>>
>>58988899
Robots are equivalent to "ants".

General intelligence is going to happen in supercomputers or something similar first, rather than spontaneously in a robot.

Robots that do manual labor or drive are specifically designed for that purpose.

Social credit as the monetary policy.

A fair solution to the issue of increased automation.

We either adapt to a new economic system where around 90% of people can't contribute anything of value to society, or shit hits the fan and we have a large scale collapse. There are a number of ways to approach the issue, but none of the solutions are easy pills to swallow.
>>
>>58987810

I'll be fine
My family are realtively rich and we own farmland, a factory, a wind farm and multiple properties including 4 apartments we lease out in west London.
When battle droids are gunning down poor, sick people who are rioting because they are so hungry I'll be pretty safe.
>>
>>58990069
>but none of the solutions are easy pills to swallow.

We just need to change our monetary policy. It's easy enough for 99% of the population to swallow. The other 1% get to keep everything they currently have, but lose access to cheap money the government creates then loans to them to loan to the rest of us.

What do you mean, will? Be like? I'm not a supervillain explaining my master plan so you can thwart me.

> It's already happened. I've already done it.

The robots automation has long past. And is continuing in an unstoppable fashion.

And you are still alive.

You still pay your bills.

The robots haven't wiped you out.

Fear human intelligence for that will take many lives today, and tomorrow and the days after this one. Fear humans for they will kill you, not a robot who knows only production, only efficency and the completion of a work task, expertly done with no though to sue you or ask for a living wage or wipe out your company at an industrial tribunal. The blood of the innocent is on human hands with their bombings, their beheadings, their bullets and the many other ways that humans kill fellow humans. Fear the human for it is the monster not the robot.
>>
>>58988899
A. Basically communism, with people getting paid a moderate wage by the gov. Probably with government incentives for charitable work, etc.
B. There will be some restrictions on what is/isn't permissible for robots. Contrary to what movies say, you can't create a sentient robot by accident.

Establishing a Universal Basic Income is a short term solution to roughly maintain the status-quo of our current economic systems. It would still require a great shift eventually, but with a UBI in place it could happen gradually.

However establishing a UBI system won't be that easy, just ask the majority of Americans how they would feel about everyone getting free money for just existing. Most conservatives would hate the idea because it is Socialism, and many liberals would hate the idea because it isn't progressive social engineering since it benefits everyone equally.
>>
>>58991127
Step one tell the conservatives that a UBI means no taxes. It wouldn't make sense to collect taxes then just turn them back to people.

Step two, after you have their interest explain to them how while people will get money for nothing, the work is done by machines. So while people aren't doing any work, the work is getting done.

Step three, explain that if you don't give people money they won't be able to buy any of the production the robots make, given the lack of jobs for the population.
>>
>>58990840

>you can't create a sentient robot by accident

If living beings spawned from lifeless matter on a barren rock, I don't have much faith in the more cunning computers staying mindless servants. Any computer powerful enough to replace a skilled worker is going to get the snowball of sentience rolling eventually, otherwise it wouldn't be fit for its task in the first place.
>>
>>58991127
>many liberals would hate the idea because it isn't progressive social engineering since it benefits everyone equally.
Don't associate tumblr retards with with liberals as a whole, we don't like those morons either.
Regardless when push comes to shove and the full effects of people losing their jobs to automation start kicking in everyone will start singing a very different song about UBI.
>>
>>58987810
If robots take over the sex industry, then i guess women will be out of jobs.
>>
>>58991406
>>58991538
Problem is the jobs aren't going to just up and vanish all at once, it will be a rather slow process. I just worry UBI is always going to be too hard to sell right up until it is far too late.

>Don't associate tumblr retards with with liberals as a whole, we don't like those morons either.
You lost all right to say that over the last few years. This subset has become the dominant group in left-leaning parties across the west and you know it.
>>
>>58992095
>This subset has become the dominant group
Screaming college students don't make up the majority of liberals, they're just an extremely vocal minority.
>>

You people seem to think robot's magically adapt. Develop themselves. They don't. They follow their little script, do what they were programmed to do -- endlessly, as long as they can. Just like the 30 y-o working his warehouse job moving boxes and feeling empty inside; but he may shoot up a school when he realizes he's overworked and facing a dead-end, and the robot won't.
Sentience doesn't simply happen. If suddenly something not scripted happens -- a peanut blocking a sensor -- it won't work. A self-driving car is able to analyze a situation and react quickly, but if something unforeseen happens it is dumb as a rock. Unless it is programmed to adapt, but we haven't reached that point despite decades of work.
There is no artificial judgement or discernment. Robot are programmed to accomplish a purpose and follow orders. We're able to do that right now. The robots taking up jobs that don't require intelligence are not intelligent.

Both Hillary and Sanders are campaigning on little but Tumblr-tier politics and rhetoric, what would you call that?
>>
>>58993290
>Tumblr-tier politics and rhetoric
The only tumblr-esque rhetoric I've seen is from sanders when he talks about how so many black people are unemployed and in poverty compared to the rest of the country.
>>
>>58987810

The common man (you and me) will be completely subject to our coorporate overlords, that control production of everything and will eventually own all houses and apartments in major cities (a trend that is currently playing out all over the western world, with rich investors buying property to rent it out and to sell when/if it rises in value)

We are going to be fucked
>>
I work to replace the jobs of factory workers in countries like China and Indonesia (for the most part) with machines. I also have decent knowledge on the industry as a whole..

It's going to be a MAJOR shitstorm by the time morons quit arguing over petty shit. The amount of momentum that is building up behind this is tremendous. If you try to stop it, the rest of the world will fly by. If you embrace it, well no one really knows what will happen yet.

It will be interesting for sure, and I will become very rich so there's that. If I were smarter I would be shilling to promote it more often.

What will human brains be like when computers will be able to insert knowledge into them bypassing books and visual processing?

Everyone who has a robot will make him work.
Its going to be the same as now but you dont have to work, your robot work and you get paid.
Pretty much like slaves.
