Was simply too hard to manage that many people over such a large area of territory. I read somewhere that the majority of colonies were actually a drain on the empire's wealth, there was only a handful that were operating at a "profit"
Some of them had precious resources but the cost to defend them and build up the infrastructure was immense. What libcucks hate to acknowledge is the fact that the empire basically created a modern infrastructure in some of these shitholes and in the case of India, they still use the same rail systems to this day.
