The wife in the California mass shooting issued a Facebook pledge of allegiance to ISIS just before opening fire with her husband on a room filled with holiday revelers.
Tashfeen Malik directed the Wednesday morning post to Islamic State kingpin Abu Bakr just before she and Syed Farook executed 14 people and wounded 21 more in a Wednesday morning rampage.
David Bowdich, head of the FBI’s Los Angeles office, confirmed the Facebook post and declared the mass shooting an act of terrorism.
There’s a number of pieces of evidence that essentially pushed us off the cliff to say we’re investigating this as a terrorist event,” said Bowdich.
Two crushed cellphones belonging to the couple were pulled from a trash can near their California home, and could become “the golden nugget” of the probe going forward, he said.
