I looked it up. NICS (FBI check system) does not track the number of guns per sale. I don't think it is significant though since most people I know and me buy one gun at a time. Maybe multiply the checks by 1.1 or something but it really is not a big factor.

Just take the ATF's low end estimate of 270 million in the 90s and add in the number of nics checks and you're over 500 million.
That's not even counting home built stuff and we live in an era where they give a discount if you buy 10 80% lowers.

Like a lot of the bullshit thrown around about guns, a lot of the estimates come from the 90s, when there was actually a cohesive anti-gun movement. The people just keep quoting the same shit over and over year after year.
