This was a personal domestic attack carried out by Muslims. But if Trump pushes this as being a Muslim attack, then the majority of Americans are going to see this as yet another case of the fringe right demonizing Muslims. And already under George W. Bush, American security was undermined by starting wars against Muslims. Most people realize now that attacking Iraq created ISIS. So global terrorism is the direct result of Republican policies. And if Trump keeps up such belligerency, then people are simply going to see that for the destabilizing, shallow, and weird-ass political position that it is.
