Reminder that if your country's aircraft carriers use ramps instead of pistons your country's engineers are shit-tier.

Reminder that if your country does not have any aircraft carriers your country is irrelevant in today's world.
>>
>>57335909
I take it that you happened to be born in a country with state of the art carriers, because I know you yourself didn't design or build any of that shit.
>>
>>57335909
>ramps vs no ramps
Well it just means your country is a good kafir in designing ships that dont harness the momentum of ramp designs in minimising fuel consumption for launching aircraft.

Now the more important question of course is, is Talos divine?
>>
>>57335909
daily reminder that the russians completely disabled the roosevelt using mag grav technology that king obongo made illegal for the us to develop.
what good is an aircraft carrier when the opposition can just turn it off.
>>

Long since been debunked m8.

Drunken Ruskie made some passes at 1km while the Roosevelt told them to fuck off.

That's about it.

Britain invented both the angled flight deck (used by the USN) and the Ski jump (Used by most other nations) as well as the rare flexible deck. In other words my yanky cunt we invented every single deck so thank us next time you launch your f-35 that we helped build at isis.
>>
>>57337566
so that's why they took the fuck off and and headed for safe port, huh?
also, the frenchs also fucked the us navy using same tech during war games.

They make good targets for swarms of cheap anti ship missiles?

To me, the fact they still build and support these floating missile magnets was just another indication war and by extension the arms race is a fraud perpetrated on civilians by war mongering despots who have always ruled earth. This fraud is perpetrated to the point where it might be exposed and then the beat down begins, the civilians blown to smithereens take years if not generations to recover, just in time for another beat down.

In the meantime we have to look at these military coveting circle jerk threads in anticipation of the inevitable.
>>
>>57338892
Apart from the fact he was calling our engineers shit despite the fact we invented these and still build them to this day as well as part of their projects. You are just showing the world how fucking retarded you are, what you going to show the world how smart your country is despite existing on the the American border living of them you inuit mug.

>>
>>57338954
If these sitting targets are so easily sunk why is the last time a US aircraft carrier was sunk was 1945. We have had no lack of enemies over the last 60 years.

Aircraft carriers are the number one most important tool in projecting power outside of your countries immediate border regions.

They are also essential in humanitarian relief operations in providing quick aid to help with countries dealing with disasters.

They really are the best gauge of a countries global military power.
>>
>>57341396
This is bait right Canada? You're not implying that WW2 doesn't count as large scale warfare right?
>>
>>57342180
> you will never unsee the unsymmetrical Sea King in the right of the photo
>>
>>57342939

What he means is that carriers would get sunk by nuclear torpedoes pretty quickly if the "The Big One" ever came which is true, but until that day, the carrier is still a very effective tool for pushing around people and places that are smaller than you.
>>
>>57343351
Still, the fact that something can be destroyed doesnt make it obsolete. Even in the event of "The Big One" aircraft carriers would be critical as they could allow faster strikes than countries relying on launching strikes from their airbases/silos in their own country. Also delivering that nuclear torpedo to a moving target with screens of ships/subs/planes protecting it being fed live monitoring from satellites of potential threats would be difficult if not downright impossible for many countries.

Aircraft Carriers are essentially just a mobile base. Having a base closer to the target of the conflict is essential for logistics of maintaining a military action.

submarines can, and will, destroy aircraft carriers much more cost efficiently than any other option.

and once the carrier is gone, the surface navy means fuck all and the aircraft are fucked.

yes, its risky, and usually will get caught, but its a risk worth taking.

http://breakingdefense.com/2015/01/transparent-sea-the-unstealthy-future-of-submarines/

Submarines are not the apex predator of the sea they once were and are far far more vulnerable than they were in their hayday.

The use of satellites and unmanned vehicles will make this even more difficult.
>>
>>57346379
I would assume carriers have destroyer/cruiser escorts at all times, both very capable of destroying submarines before they can get into a position to harm a carrier
