i don't know who has a worse chance of winning, a socialist old kike or a corrupt feminazi

Help me out here guys.

I noticed something. We never get to choose our nominee. I heard some guy from each state decides who gets to be the nominee. And I heard they were picked years ago, like reaaaallly long time ago. That sounds corrupt as shit, if that's the case the polls really don't matter and jeb or Rubio will be our front runner.

Both major political parties of the U.S.—the Democratic Party and the Republican Party—officially nominate their candidate for President at their respective national conventions. Each of these conventions is attended by a number of delegates selected in accordance with the given party's bylaws.

Both parties operate with two types of delegates: pledged and unpledged. The group of unpledged delegates, also known as superdelegates, generally comprising current and former elected officeholders and party leaders, are free to vote for any candidate they wish at the convention. The group of pledged delegates, comprising delegates representing the party committee of each state, are expected to vote in accordance with the rules of their state party.

In recent elections, the eventual nominees were known well before the actual conventions took place. The last time a major party's nominee was not clear before the convention was in 1976, when incumbent president Gerald Ford narrowly defeated Ronald Reagan.

Jesus christ, jeb is gonna be our front runner.

>are expected to vote in accordance with the rules of their state party.

Key word is expected. No one is forcing them to vote for the people that their state voted for.

America is not a democracy you dumb shit. it's a republic, desu. democracy is whats ruining this country. "pledge allegiance and to the republic for which it stands". it was never meant to be a democracy. that's why we have an electoral college and a house of representatives; because democracies always destroy themselves.

Be honest guys, is there any chance trump could be on top in the polls in February and still not be the nominee?
>>
>>57338490
In most states you can still register as a Democrat in time for the primaries.

>vote for whoever you want in Democratic primaries
>vote for whoever (Republican, third party, your dog) in general election

>remember when mccain and Romney were just decided as our nominie?

You mean after months of primaries across the nation, all exhaustively covered and explained by the press, wherein each won enough delegates and superdelegates to confirm the nomination? Yes I remember that.

Good news- you're retarded.

Primaries are run by the political parties themselves. So if you hate them, the solution is to have our big evil activist gubmint step in and create a system for nominating presidential candidates. I'm sure that would go over well on /pol/
>>
>>57339193
your meme is misleading. in a primary, there are delegates who look at who voted for who, as in who registered with which party and who they voted for. delegates; they dont take the other parties votes into account when casting theirs.

i dint reed it write. there is no such thing as a top 2 primary. wtf? you think cali could possibly have 2 democrats wining and no republicans? the primaries are held at separate times so they do not show up on the same ballot. your dumb ass meme is dumb, ass

I think I just took a mandatory redpill.

I took 2 US history classes 2 semesters ago and they never brought this up. How do so many Americans like myself believe we are just a democracy?

And pic related explains a lot of what you said.
