The financial transaction tax is literally the world's most retarded idea. Among the most basic economic principles is that people alter their behavior when prices change. If you tax financial transactions, financial transactions will just stop.
Sanders keks should collectively an hero.

Small Businesses are the Core of the USA and "Any" Economy. The power given to big corporations is just a Myth/Propaganda. The Truth is 98% of the US Economy is small businesses(less than 100 Employees!!).
Get a Clue!!
>we can't fund this by taxing just the 1%... so let's just tax the fuck out of the middle class
Bernie Sanders, everyone

He was wrong on "Financial Weapons of Mass Destruction". He was wrong on TARP funding. He's wrong on the financial transactions tax, he's wrong on skilled worker visas, he was wrong on NAFTA, he's wrong on TPP, he's wrong on education loans, he's wrong on the minimum wage. If the media had any integrity, they would admit that he's wrong.

What he is forgetting is that the "1%" dramatically changes composition constantly.
We live in a mobile economy.
People constantly change from one tier to another. Poor become middle class. Rich become poor.
Eventually it only takes just generations on average for a rich family to loose their money. Especially if you look at individuals and not at household income and equity.
Now, about the ultra rich who are actually living in the here and now: they will hire tax lawyers who will take care of it. No problem.
The "flash tax" aka Wallstreet tax is completely retarded and will only decrease investment and in general the amount of transactions made. The US will become even less interesting to invest in.
There is no such thing as the rich and the poor. It's a constant dynamic. However if wellfare, minimum wage and all kinds of other socialist measures are made it will be even harder for people to escape their tier. Especially poor people will have a hard time to actually become more productive and thus skilled and valuable members if they are subsidized to stay where they are in economic tiers. This is especially true when we look at multiple generations.

John McCain:
"In mid-1968, John S. McCain Jr. was named commander of all U.S. forces in the Vietnam theater, and the North Vietnamese offered McCain early release because they wanted to appear merciful for propaganda purposes, and also to show other POWs that elite prisoners were willing to be treated preferentially. McCain turned down the offer; he would only accept repatriation if every man taken in before him was released as well."
