first of all lets talk economy, as you know, most third world countries buy merchandise from outside with american dollars since our currency is useless, before the war, $1 would be around 40-50 syrian pounds. a shawerma would cost like..40 pounds?
now, a dollar is 382 and rising, the shawerma is 250. see my point? workers are forced to earn less so people would still buy. obviously the shawerma was an example.
the best job you can have pays you around 40,000 pounds a month which is roughly 100-120 dollars. a month.
everything costs 6-10 times more than it did, but the salaries barely rose 3-4 times. do you see what im getting at?
now lets talk safety, we have roadblocks everywhere you look. literally in every street. they slow the traffic, a lot. you need about 2 hours to get to a place that would normally take you 10 minutes or so. they stop you, take your ID, scan you, and see if you're clean or not. they do that to every single passing car. and if you're from "deir al zour", an area on the borders of iraq, where isis was. they'd do a full investigation with you...with the traffic waiting behind. which is annoying
i still see some of my friends, we go to coffee shops that are in rich areas because they're still unaffected and are safe.
