Veneto has a lot of plants and industry has been building up in the latest years. It has a lot of exports and it doesn't solely rely on tourism to survive (tho it is the primary source)
Just look at Greece, primary source of income is tourism and they were rich before 2004. Venice's position and exports can really help the country.
