Estimates for population of north and south america combined vary from 1.5m to 100m with most saying it lies around 25m or so with 95% population loss due to virgin soil epidemics.
This means that loss of life in North and South America combined is only around 23.75m and North America, specifically the portion the US now lies on held a small portion of that as most empires were in Latin America.
This means that deaths in the current US territory would have only been around 4-5m.
This is 25 times smaller than their claims and was a result of disease and not war or murder.
