I pay 400 for rent, and live by myself in a single bedroom duplex that has wood floors, an attached garage, a dishwasher, a fridge, a stove, a garbage disposal, and a storage shed in the back yard. Yard work is done by the land lord. Gas, electric, and internet hit 200 bucks per month, and I can live off 100 bucks per month eating healthily. So, if you don't want a room mate, you can survive off 700 bucks per month. At minimum wage, working full time, that would leave 5520 bucks per year for everything else.
And the best part is, my duplex is FAR from the worst/cheapest rentals out there. I've seen offers for under 300/month.

I premake a bunch of sticky rice and put it in the fridge, then add a little water and micro wave it for about 30 seconds to heat/rehydrate the rice. Then I add two eggs, mix it up, and put it in the microwave for 30-40 seconds. Then I add some turkey bacon bits and mix it in. There's breakfast.
I get lunch for two days by making a homestyle bake (3 bucks) or for 4 days by eating 2 frozen chimichangas (2.50 for a pack of 8).
Dinner varies, but usually revolves around frozen chicken and potatoes; sometimes rice. I drink organic milk with breakfast (because the gallon doesn't expire as quickly - 7.00/month), water for lunch, and a single cup of black coffee with dinner (7 bucks for 2 months).

IDK anon, for people who work there for years and years, yes it's a problem, but when I was younger I distinctly remember one of my parents getting laid off from an excellent job and, rather than milk unemployment, they immediately took a job at a fast food joint. It was temporary, but with proper budgeting and applying all around for a better job, finally managed to get everything built back up.
Thing is, you don't know these people, you don't why they're working there. It could be completely temporary, although they might have had a top tier job prior to slinging burgers. So in short, you sound like a complete douchebag that should jump in front of a train as soon as humanly possible, even if the bitch was fat.
