Am I correct in thinking that the reason Hitler lost was because the Nazis were unnecessarily spread too thin on too many fronts?
If they had not engaged in Operation Barbarossa, and maintained closer ties with their number one oil supplier (Romania) once their North African campaign was a failure they would have had the ability to easily combat the allies on the western front.

Germany was doomed from the beginning.

It made a lot of enemies and no friends.

Germany stood in defiance of the the entire world and the world had more men, tanks, and planes to throw at them.

German leadership at that time was not very wise - they couldn't see the big picture. If you talk about the soviets for example, at the beginning of 1940's Stalin finished purging all of the revolutionary "old guard" and suspected conspirators (including certain ethnicities ahem) from positions of power. So in practical terms the USSR wasn't a communist state anymore, it was very much fascist and had a lot in common with contemporary Germany.

No oil, no victory

Trucks were horse drawn and only allowed to use their engines in combat from around 1942. Also, north Africa was lost due to lack of oil as speed is of the essence in desert combat apparently.

The US is on a separate continent so it avoided becoming a victim of the terrible destruction that ravaged Germany. On top of that the US wasn't really waging two wars at the same time. It consider the war in Europe to be their primary concern and focused their resources there and the Pacific Theater was largely a stopgap measure to stop Japanese encroachment (US allies such as China, Britain and Australia did much of the fighting for the first two years, with the US largely providing Naval Support, the ground campaigns in Guadacanal and Tawara were much smaller compared to the ones in Europe). It was only after momentum swung in the Allies' favor in Europe with invasion of Italy and France (and Germany's defeat becoming inevitable) did the US throw everything it had into the Pacific. Hence why the big drive towards Japan and retaking the Philippines didn't take place until 1944-1945...
>>
>>57244365
The war in the desert was a side show. The Germans committed very little of their manpower to it, so those divisions wouldn't have helped much. However, after the Americans invaded, they sent over much more, it was a huge mistake.

If Hitler kept men like manstein in charge, and did what they said, yes the war could have been won. Even at kursk, the war was winnable. Again, with all of Hitler's generals pretty much telling him to use those reserves for a different operation, he went ahead with it. After kursk it was pretty much over.

wrong. Hitler made too many mistakes beforehand. Operation barbarossa was necessary, because the russians were lining up on east germany. if we invaded britain, they would have invaded us. it was a good preventive strike, but after it germany should have gone for peace. in defense, everyone suspected moscow to fall like france(russians killed their expierienced officers in the revolution etc) and noone expected stalin to kill his own people for the sake of war in that crazy manner. it was a giant surprise that russia won, for everyone.

if the russians had not tried to fuck us from behind, or if we havend had so many damn catholic traitors, germany would have been victorius still, though hitler fucked up in so many ways. F.e. he tried to bluff in danzig and readied the wehrmacht only to look good, but not to be good and had to make it up when the war started. he never wanted war, but was too damn aggressive diplomatically. i think he had gone mad by his own success in the 10 years before.

you have to give it to him: he was lowborn and had no father to give advice the most of his life and he played against people who had dynastys behind them. i always see him as a poor boy who tried to make something good for his people, but couldnt handle it all alone.

It has been proven historically that Hitler's plans were better than his Generals.

In fact his generals looked down on him and would ignore his plans.

>Case and Point
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kHtbKUTC4Qs
This is Hitler's Valet. He was at Hitler's side on Kristalnacht. In the Wolf's Den (Eastern Front HQ) He overheard the generals mocking Hitler and saying that they'll do their own thing.

Hitler's plan for Barbarossa was to ignore Moscow and focus on Leningrad and Stalingrad before winter. His generals diverted much needed Tank and Infantry divisions to trudge through a giant swamp west of Moscow.

By the time Hitler learned of this, it was too late to move divisions because they were engaged.

Finally, when winter hit, Hitler was the one that kept the forces dug in and not retreating like his Generals wanted.

A winter retreat would have abandoned all heavy equipment and leave them at the mercy of snipers.

Of course by late 43' ENIGMA was broken so the Russians knew in advance of many strategic battle plans, mainly the Battle of Moscow.

Reminder; Hitler did nothing wrong.

No
Hitler&Co. lost because of America, nobody on the planet can ever win a war once we decide to turn on the machine. The overwhelming force that we boast in man power and resources turns the tide of any war if we go all out.
Had we never intervened and just stayed as a neutral supplier like Switzerland(which honestly would have been an economic godsend) Nazis would have won and they probably would have asked us to kindly nuke Russia in exchange for insane market deals and cash up front.

The biggest contribution the US made to the eastern war effort was Jeeps and tinned food.

The Russians mass produced their own tanks (T-34 was probably the best tank of the war overall), rifles and munitions.

I'm not saying Hitler was all wrong, he made great decisions up until Stalingrad. His experience was also his event. For example because his hold fast order worked so well in 41 be repeated it time and time again. Luke at Stalingrad, karkov, ect. Karkov was a success because the SS general (name I can't recall right now) disregarded the hold order and moved his powerful and mobile armoured divisions out of encirclement. Then manstein used them in a flanking moved that became manstein legendary back hand. If hitler s order was obeyed, Hitler would have lost some of his best fighting units.

To your Stalingrad point, Hitler never even thought about it until case blue. Then he approved a plan that would bypass the city, going for three oil. Then he ordered the army to take it. Then he ordered the army to stay when they were being encircled. Then he didn't allow any break out attempts until it was far too late.

Yes Hitler had some very good early war success. But when mid war hit, almost all of his decisions pushed Germany closer to defeat

I said overall.
It was easy to repair, manufacture and it rarely broke down. Plus you could get peasants to become a T-34 tank crew in a matter of days.

It was a tank ideal for full-scale warfare.
>>
>>57246769
This is such a great myth.
In actual battles, after barbarossa, the Germans killed vaguely more Russians in actual fighting. The Germans pretty much executed any Russian prisoners though - so the Russian military dead count is so inflated.
Add to that the fact the Germans were performing ethnic cleansing of Slavs in occupied areas and you get the whole "sacrificed" numbers.

>The biggest contribution the US made to the eastern war effort was Jeeps and tinned food.

The Soviet Union literally couldn't feed itself after the Don region was devastated and occupied by the Germans. The Soviets would have been uber fucked without food from America.

It was the 100,000s of trucks sent by America that sustained the Soviet advances in 44-45. Those aren't small contributions. They also sent things like razors, , toiletries, boots and things like that. This allowed Russia to commit more manufacturing capability to weapons.

Plus, the Soviets had to import oil.

They wouldn't haven won without help. They barely held on with the help they were given. And if the Germans didn't have men stationed in France, the low countries, Italy, the Balkans and Scandinavia they would have had way more force to dedicate to the Eastern Front. Scandinavia required the garrison of 400,000 men alone and one luftflotte to protect the coast. The Germans had 7 luftflottes, only three of them were in the East. The rest were spread out elsewhere because of Britain and America fighting in the war. The fighting in Italy and France absorbed key panzer abteilungen that punched far harder than their numbers seem to indicate.
>>
>>57247227
>The Germans pretty much executed any Russian prisoners though

No such thing as Soviet prisoners, Tovarish. Soviet soldiers do not surrender. Those who do surrender aren't Soviet soldiers. Only traitors. Comrade Stalin says so.

"We had nothing comparable."
-Major General Friedrich von Mellenthin

"Half a dozen anti-tank guns fire shells at him [a T-34], which sound like a drumroll. But he drives staunchly through our line like an impregnable prehistoric monster... It is remarkable that lieutenant Steup's tank made hits on a T-34, once at about 20 meters and four times at 50 meters, with Panzergranate 40 (caliber 5 cm),[nb 1] without any noticeable effect."
-German AAR shortly after the start of Barbarossa

"the finest tank in the world"
-Field Marshal Paul Ludwig Ewald von Kleist

"very worrying"
-Heinz Guderian

While the T-34 was certainly outclassed in terms of armor and firepower by the Tigers and Panthers by 1944 (those tanks were actually designed to counter the T-34 specifically, hence why they were also so effective against the M4 Sherman), in 1941 and 42 it dominated German armor and helped save the Soviet Union from collapse during that desperate first year.

SO HUNGRY SOVIET PEOPLE THANK YOU MURICA YOU WON LIKE ALWAYS

"Assuming that winning the war depends mainly on the resources of the USSR, they showed that in the years of the war the role of Lend-Lease changed. Especially weighty it was in 1944, when the financially amounted to 13% of total government expenditure, 25% of the costs of the war and the gross national product share of lend-lease amounted to 10-12%. Many of delivery in relation to its own production in the Soviet Union were relatively small, were not determined by the character, but they have helped to overcome some of the difficulties.
You're talking about food? But the supply of food from its own issue of the USSR in the area ranged from 1% to 15% (meat). Yes, it was a real help - the Soviet Union during the war was damn close to starvation, he died from the people in the rear. There is no doubt that without the Lend-Lease the number of deaths from hunger would be much greater than in the Republic of Ingushetia. But how much more? The monthly ration of meat in the rear ranged from 400 g to 1.5 kg per person -tsifry terrible, I can not imagine them (I personally knead at least 150-200 grams per day, and even much more) as well, without Lend -Lisa he would be reduced to 340 grams and 1.28 kg respectively. Is it fatal?

Up until the start of Operation Reinhard (the most deadly phase of the Holocaust where approximately 2-3 million people were killed in just over two years) it was statistically more dangerous to be a Prisoner of War in German hands than a Jew in a concentration camp.

Approximately 4 million prisoners of war (roughly 60% of all POWs taken during the war) died of malnutrition, overwork, or were outright exterminated. Major Extermination Camps such as Auschwitz and Sobibor were built by POWs who were swiftly murdered upon completion to ensure their existence remained a secret. The use of Zyklon B was approved after 600 prisoners of war were gassed to test it's effectiveness on large groups.

Those aren't the years that they were in the greatest need of food, trucks and oil.

You're going
>They didn't need it in 41-42 so they didn't need it at all!

Let's say that they get no lend lease at all. That the Germans don't have to keep armies elsewhere. That they can contribute three more luftflottes, a whole bunch of heavy panzer abteilungen, millions more German soldiers, the German factories aren't being bombed.

Are you saying that the Soviet Union would be in any good shape at all in 1945 with urgent national food and oil shortages? With 350,000 fewer trucks? 10,000 more armoured vehicles? 10,000 fewer airplanes? A total of goods costing $10,000,000,000.

Even before the war, the Nazis received from Ford subsidiaries in Germany, Belgium and France, 65 thousand trucks. In addition, a subsidiary of Ford Switzerland has repaired thousands of German trucks. German repair the vehicles and the Swiss branch of another American auto giant "General Motors", who is also the largest contributor to the German automaker "Opel", successfully working with him throughout the war and received a fair dividend. But Ford was out of the competition!

According to the American military historian Henry Schneider, Ford helped the Germans to obtain rubber vital for the German industry. Not only that, until the beginning of World War II, the owner of the auto giant US supplied military equipment to Hitler, for which in honor of the 75th anniversary of the Ford Führer awarded the highest award of the jubilee of the Third Reich for foreigners - "Grand Cross of the German Eagle." German Consul even made a trip to Detroit to personally hang a gold cross with a swastika on his chest avtomagnatu. Ford was delighted with this award. At the grand gala dinner organized on the day of the anniversary - July 30, 1938, attended by more than 1,500 richest detroyttsev.

Before the war doesn't mean as much. It's regular investment.

Hell, before the war the U.S. pumped so much investment money into the U.S.S.R. The Soviet industrial ability had so much to thank America for. It was America planners that designed the new Soviet factories. They were brought over and lived in American style homes built especially for them

The Soviets learned modern mass production from industrialists from Detroit and other American industrial cities.
