PhD School Psych Intern reporting in -- I live in a state where IQ scores tend to be generally higher. Depending on your race your IQ score should be higher or lower. For Jewish Americans (They invented most of the measures) standard IQ based on the most prevalent measures (WISC V/WAIS IV/WJ IV Cog/Stanford Binet) average about 113. For Asian Americans 106. For Whites 103. For Latino 89. For Blacks 85. So depending on your race, what a good IQ is, should vary. Differences of scores within groups are more important than those between. So if you are white, decent cognitive ability is 115+. Most Whites I test where I am from are within that range. I think people on 4chan especially overestimate what a good IQ is. 140 is more than 2 standard deviations above the mean and puts you like at the .01 percentile for the entire U.S. You might have elements of Superior IQ on certain indexes i.e. perceptual reasoning, fluid reasoning, processing speed, or verbal. There's a difference between cognitive abilities and adaptive abilities. I would wager that if you took a WAIS you'd do well on perceptual reasoning, processing speed, and working memory but might score lower on Verbal due to your diagnosis. But adaptive/behavioral assessment is a completely different measure. Your autism really wouldn't affect most domains of your cognitive ability. But certainly it would affect your adaptive behaviors. If you are ever interested, take a Vineland or ABAS adaptive measure. Autism=/=Cognitive Impairment. There's some comorbidity of it with those higher on the spectrum. But you are right, it's an adaptive/social disorder.

IQ isn't meant to be measured for bragging rights, really. It's measured to identify cognitive impairments and individual strengths and weaknesses. They correlate fairly well to achievement tests (I'm not going to go get a book out but I think the correlation is like .81). But no. Cognitive Assessment is not a precisely measured science. There is error in all measurement, even of the hard sciences. Within the cognitive assessments there are error bands (i.e. scores where the person's 'True Score' will range between if the test was administered more than once). For example, a good psych report will say something to the effect of 'There is a 95 out of 100 percent chance that *Person A's* true score falls within the range of 100 to 115 (If their listed score was 108). So basically what that is saying is that if the person were to test the test 100 times. 95 times out of 100 their score would be within the range of 100 to 115.
As for reliable IQ tests? Well most have pretty large normative samples for getting good psychometrics. I would say Wechsler tests are both the standard and the best ones.

Well to be more precse I only included "long regressive saccades" in my analysis. Saccades are quick eye movements during which you can't perceive visual information. Saccades are by far the most important type of eye movements for reading. Turns out the ability to make accurate regressive saccades is positively correlated with reading comprehension and reading speed. Als shorter fixation times between the saccades is correlated with better reading comprehension and speed as well. To my surprise there was absolutely no effect of working memory whatsover.

Examiners take that into account. Within a psych report there have been a few times that i've said 'This test is not an accurate reflection of 'Persons' cognitive abilities based on reaction to the administration.' I would continue to try and possibly do a behavioral assessment instead to see what's going on. But as for people with ADHD and concentration issues, you are allowed to take breaks between subtests if you want. For one person, I literally had to go back to them over the course of 6 days and administer the test 1 subtest per day because they couldn't handle more than that. But I would also refer you to my statement about the error bands listed above. IQ tests are grueling. There's no doubt about that. They aren't fun. Maybe the Stanford-Binet is for kids. But the WAIS for adults will just give you a fucking headache.
