Because Jamaica used to be a British colony till 1964. During the 300 years they owned the island slaved from west Africa were imported.
Those slaves (called maroons) turned out to be very violent,which resulted in many of them escaping or getting killed, slave revolts etc.. so the British started importing ethnic Han Chinese and Poo in the Loo indians.
Before the British it was a Spanish Island, but the Spanish got kicked out by the British if I´m not mistaken. Or the Spanish sold it to the British.
