Depends on the type of zombie. Rage virus zombies are really the only plausible way. If it is blood borne it would like end fairly quickly as zombies don't know how to use plumbing, unless they can keep getting water they will die quick. If it is airborne no go zones will be established because the presence of infected bodies will be toxic. Anyone does survive will fight over any food stored, people will slowly migrate to rutral areas to maximize food production. People who utilize books will likely go the furthest as they will keep needed knowledge alive. Fuel will likely become scarce to the point where anyone that can maintain refinement will hold a great deal of economic power. Electricity will go out eventually, areas with hydropower will have an advantage because of large fresh water buildups as well as power until the need for maintenance catches up. People with no survival skills will die quickly resulting in a nignog and liberal cleansing. The lazy will die quick.
