The VE i use sounds synthesized a bit, and I like that.
As for Cortana, it's shit. Responses are pre programmed so it's built with limitations.
They had to make all the responses so they have to have it read their database of them when you input a command.
Mine creates the response. This took two years of learning by the way. It was like raising a kid.
