What will you do when you're replaced by robots? It's already happening. Do you really think your job is safe?
>>
>>56785411
Make sure I will be operating/maintaining the robots
>>
>Do you really think your job is safe?

retail, trucking, clerical and service jobs will be automated before my job is so if shit is going to fall apart it will hit me afterwards
>>
>>56785477
those will be replaced by machines/additonal scripts as well. Plus those are 0.001% of the previous jobs. Not everyone can be a taxi driver, pilot...or operator.

What job do you have that you don't think can be done by a robot, drone or AI?
>>
The day they replace software developers with robots we'll have much bigger problems than losing our jobs
>>
This argument doesn't make sense by the way. If EVERYONE'S job was taken by a robot how would we make money to buy the product? Think about it you doughnut.

*clicks "I'm not a robot*

More like the elites would wipe out the majority of the population now that they no longer need people for an economy to run.

The common man would have become redundant, a useless drain on resources, so they would be eliminated.

If you think we are anywhere close to sentient AI you are definitely not a software devopler and have nothing to worry about

They've said it before, maintenance and repair. Any machine is still going to need someone to accurately diagnose and fix whatever problem might come up. That can include software or hardware. Even if we go to total automation where machines can repair machines, it will be a clusterfuck of a loop. Besides if we even get to that point the repair industry will shill too hard for my kind to go away.

If enough people are being phased out of their job, then legislation and government controls will kick in that will protect this group of people.

Those guys just build cars. Manufacturing does not equal repairing. It's hard to have a downed unit being sent somewhere else to be fixed when a motherfucker can be half an hour away and fix it on the spot. Companies HATE having units down for more than two seconds. Especially if they are used to the efficiency of robotics. At times one downed unit can fuck up an entire operation.

funny but actually those retards that believe they will tranfer their minds into robots into future just make me laugh. it is literally impossible to do so, even if you had all the technology in the world. You don't transfer information, you copy it and paste it somewhere else. You don't actually move the information, When you're moving something from your computer to a USB drive all you do is copy the file, paste the file onto the USB drive and then delete the file from the computer. It's not the same file. It wouldn't be the same mind, it would be just a copy of your mind. The original you would still be there to watch as the robot you wakes up and believes he is you. So I guess you could kill yourself then but you will still die, you won't even live, your copy will.

You should be asking women this, because it is they who will be replaced in the next thirty years. Men are the builders, men are the guys who work the shitty jobs that keep society running, and most of those jobs cannot be done by a robot (yet).

Sex can be reverse engineered though, and when those robots hit, who's to say that the modern woman won't be the ones 'reassigned'?
>>
>>56785592

late response but I am an actuary, once the point comes where I am replaced it doesn't matter anymore because you will have invented an oracle machine.
>>
>>56786659
that's a big if m8. Most of the 3rd world is far from having germany's birth rate.
>>
>>56786880
It's not likely to happen in the next 30-40 years. For a robot to do the work we do they would need artificial intelligence which is a problem in the computer science industry that still hasn't even been theoretically achieved.

Diagnosis requires abstract thinking at times. For instance if the computer on heavy equipment is throwing up trouble codes for an fuel/air ratio issue on the Diesel engine there are multiple systems that need to be checked, such as ignition, fuel, metering, or even emissions. This could sometimes be simple as a broken wire on the fuel pump to a bad computer unit that the computer won't even recognize as a problem. The point is you need intelligence to figure out that issue which robots have a terrible time dealing with, as it strays from predefined procedures that computers understand.
>>
>>56787268
Or you just work down a list of things that can break and go by it in order.
>>
>>56787040
The point is that you cannot have a whole nation filled with taxi drivers, with specialized roles that nourish the majority. Not that they wont be replaced in the future, I am talking about the current factor tied to the makeup of jobs in our country.

You also dont need a population that has a majority of plumbers. Because one plumber can serve hundreds of people. Thousands even.

These factory jobs have become like that. We cannot all be inspectors, creators of robots. There is simply no demand for that.

That is why the majority of people will just become unemployed. Nothing else. There will be no magical job creation there that will accommodate 70% of the coming unemployed people.
>>
>>56787268
None of the things you listed could not be done by currently available technology
>>
>>56785411
I doubt they can replace engineers with robots.

It, how ever, is my job design something to replace yours.
>>
>>56787584
they're already replacing software engineers
i guess you could be a robot engineer, letting the robots engineer themselves is a bad idea
>>
>>56787373
No that's not how it works. In that instance it would take too long to check everything because certain parts are not electronically controlled or recognized by the system. Like air filters, or fuel filters.

>>56787485
If there was any technology that could do any of that in a timely manner it would already be in use now. This just shows me you've never repair anything of importance or complexity. Go ahead find that technology anon.
>>
I flunked out of Chemical Engineering now in Accounting. It's probably going to get automated... So what shall I do? Should I just drop out of Uni?

just fuck my shit up senpai. Life in this age sucks so bad.
>>
>>56785411
I've been unemployed for ten years. No, I've never taken a dime in public assistance. So the robots can go fuck themselves.
>>
>>56787710
>not electronically controlled or recognized by the system

Then they're going to make them recognized by the system, if they're going to make robot repairmen, they're sure as hell going to make more stuff recognized by the system.

Your job is piss easy to be replaced by robots.
>>
>>56787710
Its only not in use now because its not cheap enough yet, just like self check outs in grocery stores did not get cost effective untill the last 7 or 8 years, mark my words the majority of taxis will be self driving withing the next 40 to 50 years
>>
when all the physical jobs go, a lot of jobs will be created by entirely new industries. who knows, we might end up getting paid to kill tyranids in a virtual world or something we can't even imagine currently.
>>
>>56787676
Software Engineers can become many things that the AI could not. This course is literally about creativity.
>>
>>56787793
How the fuck do you feed yourself? Are you a trust fund kid?
>>
>>56787268
Ignition, fuel, and metering, and especially emissions are all computer controlled. That's why all diagnosis programming is proprietary. Sure they sell some aftermarket scanners, but those are getting more expensive and give you less and sometimes unreliable information. If you had factory equipment, like a dealer, you could find out exactly what's wrong with the vehicle. All you have to do then is change out the parts. i.e. robots will soon take your job too.
>>
>>56788087
Takes talent. Nope. I'm also off the grid.
>>
>>56787831
Haha no. If you were in the industry you would realize how hard that would be. Everything electrical fucks up eventually. I mean really, do you know how inefficient and cost ineffective it is to have bearings be electronically monitored when for $20 you can have a regular bearing that does the same job? Companies are cheap as fuck.

>>56787848
Grocery checkouts are not that hard for a computer to do, it just consists of scanning a barcode. Ya automated taxis can follow routes and there is tech available that can sense oncoming cars, but a big ass car is easier for a computer to sense than a pinhole in a hydraulic hose or a wire that has been burnt under the insulation that can't be seen, only felt. Again, to fix certain things you need a much higher degree of intelligence than any computer has, now. Once AI is theoretically accomplished, only then can we expect it to ever become cheap.
>>
>>56785592

Will take a while
>>
>>56788093
I've worked with those dealer factory equipment. They suck ass. They do a better job at pointing you in the right direction but not telling you what the problem is, exactly.

>>
>>56785411
Having robots to do shitty jobs is not something bad. People just have to wake up and force companies to hire more people to the jobs the robs can't do.

Imagine having to work just 4 hours a day
>>
>>56788258
Yeah that's why companies changed the tire pressure monitoring systems from running off the speed sensor(which worked just fine) to replacing it with a brand new, active, radio transmitting sensor that costs the vehicle owner 500 bucks every 5 years because that's how long the sensor's battery lasts.

So I probably will be having a bright future if this happens
>>
>>56788481
Yes and I've stripped off those piles of shit because they aren't necessary. Figuring out the pressure of air inside of a tire is easier than, again, finding burnt or corroding wiring that cannot be seen or measured.

>>56788512
As for this, yes I have. The Cummins Insite software that my shop received from a Cummins authorized dealer is proprietary software that is updated every few months by employees from the company. It is the exact same software that is used by Cummins dealerships around the world. We received this software because our company was authorized to complete warranty repairs for LNG heavy duty engines on class 8 semi trucks.
