USA, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Rhodesia. (And then it seceded, But it still had white rule until Mugabe took over and fucked it up)
So the answer is we replaced the leaders with Competent white people or in the cases of USA Australia and Canada we replaced almost the entire native population with white people

Canada was settled by a whole load of people, English, French, Dutch, and there's probably more I'm missing. But overall it was an English colony, our constitution thingy used to be held in England and we had to go through the crown to change it at all. Social studies was a while ago so some of that may be inaccurate.
New Zealand, Australia, Canada and New Zealand were settler colonies, all of Frances' Colonies were for the sole purpose of extracting resources

France and England had 2 completely different approaches to their colonies.
To the French, thier colonies were always nothing more than trading posts. At the height of French-rule in New France, there were no more than 60,000 Canadiens. Whereas, in the 13 Colonies, by 1759 there were over a million English colonists.
The French never gave up the exploitative model; to harvest as much as they could to enrich the Metropole. All of that wealth was to be used to pursue what they saw as their main national interest: the domination of Europe.
For the British it was always about founding new settlements wherever they could, which meant you had to invest in things like infrastructure, laws, medical services, schools, industry. Had the Empire continued, we would have seen British cantons spring up in all of the latter acquisitions of the 19th and 20th Century, slowly replacing the indigenous populations.
And wouldn't that have been a glorious thing.
