It just dawned on me that when real war between nations breaks out, this will be the first time it will be extensively captured on video in human history. Like, think about all of the wars that have been fought for the past thousands of years, and now the next one will all be on video and likely uploaded online. Crazy to think about, imagine watching any of the prior wars on video, from the crusades or WWII. I have a feeling we are nearing the end of the human cycle.

Whenever Ukraine was at war I watched as many videos as I could, the Urban combat is just 10x more interesting than middle eastern combat. I specifically recall a video of some Novorossiyan with a broken arm talking into a walkie talkie, and then they start shelling shit. in the CF you're issued pretty much everything either at basic, then mabye a few more things when you reach your unit. its your responsibility to maintain your kit and they do regular inspections. Lockers are provided at the units and people generally keep most of their kit their.
weapons are kept in vaults and are typically handed out before deployments/exercises.
and yes, when you leave you keep your dress uniforms, and simple things, like t-shirts, socks, underwear, oh and boots.
