Stay with 7. No benefit at all to 10. I use mobile data for everything and monitor it like a hawk. 10 uses unexplained data where 7 didn't. If i just leave my pc on while tethered you can watch 30mb here and 50 mb there just download for absolutely no reason.
They went full trojan and installed a pop-up that proposes upgrading to 10 on all windows 7 that have auto updates on. Seems a tad shady
Windows 10 is pretty good, I like it better than both 7 and 8.
The 1511 update that came out last week fucked a bunch of things up for a lot of people, though, including my wi-fi card. But from what I understand they've removed it from windows update, so you should be in the clear.

People are just concerned about telemetry.
Microsoft decided it can access more data that you work with. What does it use the data for is partially guesswork.
What's indisputable is that it's a bad thing. At the very least worst it used it for monitoring the market to make sure it retains monopoly, slowing down development of commercial operating systems significantly.
Upgraded and love it.
Really, there is no reason not to try it.
You can revert back to whatever OS you were originally using with a single click of a button.

I had NO idea how to access nor even search for programs when I turned on a new win 8.1 notebook. A free program called Classic Shell restores most of the familiar icons and links to any win 8 or win 10 machine. I still hate them both and hate microshit.

No, windows 10 is in fact pretty awful. Even simple shit like image viewing is buggy and crash happy, it loves breaking drivers, updates are annoying and fuck up your settings, and most of the new "features" would have been called adware even a couple years ago. Personally I had fewer issues with Visa than I do with Windows 10. It's literally a beta they shoved down the public's throat because MS has been fucking clueless for at least 5 years.
I have it on a newly purchased inexpensive laptop. I don't like the fact that they keep trying to push you towards their online services, and to use a microsoft login instead of a local login. They added very few features that I would consider useful. It has support for mounting iso images native to the OS. No older OS will get DirectX12 or later, but that only matters if you are a gamer. Edge seems to be fast, low memory usage browser (for now), but there are plenty of third party options. At least they fixed the start menu (mostly). It really doesn't offer much over 7 for most people.

I've had it since launch day and I've had maybe two issues.
One was that it kept reverting my wallpaper thing back to a single picture instead of a slideshow. Renaming the picture it kept reverting back to fixed it.
The other was a a little more annoying in that the quick startup feature broke and was taking like 5+ minutes to start. Turning it off and back on fixed it though.
Very minor things in comparison to Vista or Win8 at launch.
