The system of the Electoral college has been obsolete for a good number of years now. Let's make a push to rid the country of an indirect vote for elections to come!
The signature count is almost 1000! Just a few more!

Just do it.

Would require a constitutional amendment, which is never going to happen.
who else wants to abolish the republic?

>YEAH LET'S FUCK OVER SMALL STATES!
>CALIFORNIA AND NEW YORK SHOULD BE THE ONLY STATES TO INFLUENCE THE VOTE!
Fucking morons.
>>56742882
As opposed to 51% of California and New York influencing the vote, dumbass.
It should all be proportional electorates averaged out by state, something as massive as Cali shouldn't be allowed to be 55 auto-blue electorates.

>rid the country of an indirect vote
Yeah!
Mob rule has always worked well throughout history! Nothing but positives there!
>>56743011
That's not abolishing the electoral college.
That's refining it.
Stop moving the goal post
Yeah, now that illegals in California can vote it's the perfect time to abolish this garbage.
The average american doesn't even know what the electoral collage is.
>>56742514
Are you fucking retarded?
The reason the electoral collage exists is to represent the states equally. The REAL problem you should be going after is the "winner-takes-all" system that states set up, which gives the majority vote of a candidate ALL of the state's electoral votes, rather than it being proportional.
Fucking Constitutionally-illiterate millenials.

what is it?

It's pretty much a system that doesn't favor the tyranny of majority, nor the tyranny of the government. You have electoral collages, which are people selected to cast vote according to the vote of the people in each states. The amount of electoral collages in the state is proportional to the population
Now the problem that has now occurred is that states, since the mid 1800s, have created a system where the candidate that gets the majority vote of that state gets ALL of the state's electoral votes, rather than it being proportional to every vote.
Fairly odd system, I know, but it's the kind that was made with the intents to keep the power between the people and the government equal.
The electoral delegates, at least at first, could vote either way. It was the people selecting more knowledgeable people to make a more informed vote. At some point, that all stopped.
Also, we should revoke the 17th amendment.

Won't do squat. The popular and electoral votes almost always line up the same anyway.

you done fucked up now
