What is it with our country and having so many left-wing parties and sympathisers? Last I checked, we had eleven left-wing parties, one centrist party (Fianna Fáil), two centre-right parties (Fine Gael and Renua Ireland) and one farther-than-centre-but-not-exactly-far-right party (Identity Ireland).
Why is the right so fucked by the left in parliament, /pol/?
Old people generally tend to vote for Fianna Fáil because they've had a majority government for most of Ireland's time as an independent state.
Young people tend to vote for one of the three main left-wing parties (Sinn Féin, Anti-Austerity Alliance and the Socialist Party) generally.

It's a holdover from when we were ruled from Westminster. The British left tended to offer us table scraps to keep us quiet.

Actually politically speaking Ireland has always had a healthy amount of racism in its politics and it still does. The kind of racism which protects the culture identity from an infux of non-nationals.
The large part of the change that is taking place is happening in schools where children are being brainwashed to think that being a racist is equivalent to be a murderer almost. So by voting for a right part like Identity Ireland you would be redressing the balance.
