Real criminals do whatever they want, laws mean nothing to them.
Whenever they commit a crime, we lose more of our rights despite having done nothing wrong ourselves.
Those same criminals are then pretty much given a free pass to rob us and we have no way of fighting back and the cops are never there to help us when it counts.

The UK used to have a higher gun ownership rate than modern day Texas and we had next to no gun crime.
The only law that actually did reduce gun crime was an early act making it illegal to sell guns to drunk people.
Raising the minimum age from 14 to 18 did nothing, banning scary sounding guns did nothing.
