Try to find a place to stay in West LA, that's where all the civilized people live. Avoid central and south central (souf central...) LA like the plague, it's nigger/spic zones. Never walk around downtown during the night, because you might inadvertently walk into Skid Row, which looks like a haitian slum (but it's pretty interesting to visit during the day, from within the safety of a car of course). Hollywood is overrated, but I guess you can't really go to LA without visiting Hollywood.

I live in salt lake city, Utah, skiing here is a dream and I'm 10 minutes from a mountain range of the Rockies.
