Marxism is very interesting but a bit outdated. Neomarxism, that's something completely different.
I am. Also sort of like some of Zizek's criticisms, and Lenin's pretty good on his development of Imperialism criticism, but he's not good for much else.
Critical theory is still useful if applied reasonably. Ironically, the "cultural marxist" and SJW/BLM fanaticism is contradictory to several of Marx's writings, he'd probably look upon them as causing a rift within the proletariat, ultimately preventing themselves from achieving their goals.

I was, until I realized that Marx, as a son of an industrialist, was merely trying to capitalize off of and manupulate the working masses disaffected by the system of his father and company. It's like his wealthy peers said "these peasants are getting rowdy and discontented, how can we trick them into globalizing even when they don't want it?" And bam, Marxism and all variants. No they didn't. The economy of the USSR was catastrophic after the October revolution, hence even Lenin said "maybe capitalism isn't that bad" and reintroduced capitalism with the NEP.
Then Stalin came along, cancelled the NEP, the economy tanked again, and he started the mass enslavement of the russian people through the kholkoze (which caused 5-7 million dead through starvation) and the Gulag (which caused 1-2 million dead out of nearly 15 million who went through the system). Of course the only way to keep society at peace was through sheer terror, which was what the great purge achieved (700k executions).

The worst famine under "recent" Tzarist rule happened in the 1880s after a severe drought, and caused roughly 500 000 dead. And this was in pre-industrialized, feudal Russia.
In the "industrialized" USSR there were three major famines all of which could have been easily avoided : the Tambov famine which killed 2-3 million people in the mid 1920s, the famine of the early 1930s which killed a whopping 5-7 million people, mostly in Ukraine, after Stalin's failed collectivization efforts (keep in mind that the yield of 1932 had been the best yield since the creation of the USSR... the famine was entirely man made), and finally the 1946 famine which everyone seems to have forgotten about and killed another few millions.
