They distribute resources effectively. Their resources are what allows the workers to do their jobs, and ultimately take home money. Making something, especially on a production line where you only do one specific and easy task, is much easier have the intelligence and foresight that running a company takes. Actually, Steve Jobs are Elon Musk were brilliant inventors. Inventing a product that never existed before, and benefits society in some way, is infinitely more valuable than a laborer that sits around mass producing the item by pressing a few buttons on an assembly line.

Largely because of the inefficient beuarocracy of states. States are a parasite, the more control, the more people starve. However, income distribution is not a problem. It would be if we were working with a finite amount of money, but we aren't. It is possible for insanely rich people to exist and have almost poverty, which the west would have acheived if Socialism wasn't resurfacing. However, this is on one condition - humanity keeps expanding. If it doesn't, the economy hits its limit and society declines back to a sustainable level. Not that it will matter much since if that ever happened we'd all be doomed to be burned by the Sun in 1 Billion years anyway.

It wasn't the worker who came up with the idea, paid for the factory, paid for the research, and paid for the salaries of the workers. All the workers did was show up put in 9-5 assembling parts collect a check and go home. All of that can be done by computers now far cheaper. Get a haircut and a job hippy.
