Coded messages (that we can't break). An upswing in frequency and length along with stations other than Offutt sending them is an unusual occurrence.

I heard a code phrase the other day (Nov 22, 1110 AM EST) where they just said "Juggernaut" instead of a code, which was unprecedented for my listening to the station.

One time cipher pads. Impossible to decode without a copy of the pad to correlate the code to.

That's why they broadcast on the open like this, it's a secure and easy way to broadcast to stations without fear of code-cracking.
>>
>>56643995
Yes 4 skykings is big and heightened chatter is unusual and indicates something going on at least. It only takes being on at the right time to be aware of a grand happening
>>
>>56643994
I wouldn't doubt people have tried. Considering the availability of these broadcasts (chucklefucks like us are listening), each message or at least the messages for each day likely use a new set of encryptions, which only the broadcaster and receiver have, with previous ones never being used again.

You could accurately decipher a message, after any given amount of time, but have to do that for nearly every one, with no guarantee of how long it could take.

Most likely, most of these messages are benign.

However, "Juggernaut" was unusual. Probably a test to see how quickly bombers could be ready for take off as that's all that was said.

When stations other than Offutt Air Force Base send messages, that's unusual. Increased traffic and length of messages *probably* mean something but we can't know for sure. >>56645140

It seems so. I missed a few earlier today with a claim of a SKYKING x4 (unverified to me) and a few stations that normally don't broadcast (CHOP HOUSE as seen above) sending messages. Offutt is typically the common sender with MAINSAIL and Andrews being less common.

One time pads CANNOT be broken without the pad
>>
>>56646053

The messages are encoded with a one time cipher pad that can't be broken without having the pad.

Sending these codes like this on open airwaves is secure, cheap and robust for the military.
>>
>>56643645
Yes this is how you speak over a radio to be heard clearly.

Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta, Echo, Foxtrot, Golf, ect. its easier to understand than a, b, c, d, e, f, g, over a radio.

Andrews is indeed Andrews. CHOP HOUSE and MAINSAIL are probably names for commands or command posts (ground or airborne) that don't necessarily have a stationary location or maybe commands for specific groups (501st Strike, 23rd Air Recon...)
>>

>>56645141
SkyKing is an order to US Nuclear Forces. 4 Skykings is the highest priority order. It is normal when anything big goes down around the world the US normally sends out several Skyking messages to insure its nuclear forces are ready to strike if needed.

Presumably out of all the former Air Force officers who have had worked on this system in the past, some knowledge has leaked out?

And whenever something potentially world-ending happens like NATO member shooting down Russian plane, the "chatter" increases dramatically.
>>
>>56647191

Pure speculation at this point, but some have said MAINSAIL sends the Order of the Day to ground crews. Something like "Keep B-52 AL2874 (or whatever) loaded with 10 B-61s and on 5 minute alert." "Stand Aircraft XX down from alert."

There's really no way of knowing for sure.

B-2s can have their targets updated via sats and I imagine B-52s can be too, so i doubt we'd hear a change like that.

Jesus Christ you people.

Nothing is happening.

First off they haven't used this system for the initial go codes in about twenty years. It is still intended as a backup, but that would be after whole cities and counties are melting.

Secondly, yes, they do simulated network activity as a means of testing and general practice.

They're broadcasting the standard options on the lunch menu of the Naval Academy way over in Annapolis. Well, that was a favorite back in my day. We did have this one chucklefuck who used to push out surfing weather reports until someone up the chain flipped out and put a stop to it.

Never figured out why but there you have it. I think maybe reasoning was like: "if this message decodes as food, fucking ignore it."

No go back to posting something useful like political ball theater or chimpout happenings.

Therefore...Surely MAINSAIL is NORAD....Or have I watched to many Hollywood movies?

Also....How frequently would the likes of B-2/B-52's be armed and ready to go?

Surely if all hell was to break loose that the last ones to be readied in time would be aircraft carriers and sillo's would be used to destroy anything in range?

/pol/ wasn't there about a month ago info that several number stations that haven't been around for decades have simultaneously broadcasted a call sign called "COLLAPSE"?

This is getting interesting.

Previous to development of submarine-launched ballistic missiles, the US Navy strategic nuclear role was provided by aircraft carrier–based bombers and, for a short time, submarine-launched cruise missiles. With the end of the cold war, the US never deployed the rail-mobile version of the Peacekeeper ICBM or the road mobile Midgetman small ICBM. The US destroyed its stock of road-mobile Pershing II IRBMs and ground-launched cruise missiles in accordance with the INF treaty. The US also has shared strategic nuclear weapons and still deploys shared tactical nuclear weapons to some NATO countries.[1][3][4]

>>
>>56648522

Good question!

Once again, back in the day, and this is just one mans analysis mind you, you did well enough on the placement tests to be able to request your assignment. Then you ask to be a courier, 'cause that sounds really cool, and -- surprise surprise -- you get assigned as what you requested. Except you see, you have a secondary assignment you must fulfill while waiting for them to find something for you to courey.

And that's how I became a door gunner ...

So ... serve two tours. get back, go to technical school. Figure I'll end up sitting in a missile silo all day, erry day, and wouldn't that be cool?

Didn't work out, I never even saw the inside of a command capsule, never made it underground, but I ain't complaining.

Now a days ... dunno. I've heard rumor they actually give you what you ask for if you work for it.

So my best advise is: be careful what you ask for.

COLLAPSE is a station callsign last heard (supposedly) before the fall of the Soviet Union.

It sent out some coded messages to SKYKING (actual SKYKING) multiple times during the start of Russia's bombing of Syria and hasn't been heard since.

Spread you bandwidth to FM. It appears to be an analog TV signal. It could possibly be a jammer, also, but it's not the China CRN1 Jammer that normally blocks Taiwan on 6730.

Oh honey, that's adorable.
Lots o traffic, habbenings in the world, e-4b mercuries in the air and doing odd shit, all ads up to being either another Able Archer exercise (which came mere breaths away from having the Rooskies nuke us) or more likely a habbening of troop movements and retargeting nukes.
Probably the second. Bro.

Dear anon: When I started enjoying this thread at 3 am this morning, it was a desu chill HF radio listening.
As more and more tards became awoke, it's gotten more and more tarded habbenings.
I want to go back to the 'joke around about the habbenings, have spoopy feels, and laugh knowing troops are being moved around, and the govt will tell us something in the next few days'.

Now, people legit think they're gonna hear 'launch da nukkkeeeessssss' in 6 minutes.

But seriously though, we're intrigued by the breaking of the normal broadcast routines, and the live pilot discussion earlier.

But, my /comfy/ radio thread got invaded by tards.

Yes and no, it's only a sign of importance related to nuclear assets. Shit can go down, but skyking = nuke is getting told

I've DX'd (listened to shortwave) for years. You just get a feel what signals are what.

I have an ancient WWII vacuum tube Hellicrafters Shortwave set and a 100 foot copper wire antenna I normally listen to, but a tube burned out and I am too poor to replace it (hence why I point people to the blog. Ad revenue helps me stay alive).

>>56652704
So, I'm poor, can do electronics, and want to get into ham radio.

Advice?

It seems a cheap SDR or a decent SDR seems the best way to get into it, but I really like the old school things, and physical dials.

I'm sure I could hack together a panel that interacts with my PC, but advice?
>>
>>56645847
Prolly have a nullop code for bluster/disinfo purposes
>>
>>56654293

A used all band receiver on Ebay or Amazon is a good way to go (iCOM, Yaesu). Some older 1990s units will interact with computers. Grab a good old 100 foot copper antenna and ground it real well and you'll pick up a lot.

I said in the previous thread, that I'm still researching the best SDR kits for home use. The cheap ones won't go to 8992 and the expensive ones are expensive.

Once I figure out a good package, I'll blog it.

A good start-up would be Sigmira software (free). It will let you log onto many antennas around the world until you can get your own set-up going.

>>
>>56656604

It's very possible that you're right. I have hearing damage from a gunshot near my face so I could easily have mistaken that.
>>
>>56643474
Definitely. This uptick probably has something to do with Turkey/Russia, either routine misdirection or actual increase in alertness. I would guess that any violence confrontation between a NATO member and Russia would trigger increased SKYKING activity regardless of whats actually going on
>>
>>56654857
Some russian was asking about a cheaper SDR kit and there was some hardware mods out there that would reach decent stuff.

But, on the flip side, you can find a 20 m receiver and a 20 m transmitter kit for $15 each, spend an afternoon soldering, then stuff it in a case.

>>56656093
Stay ass blasted, you 'tard. Atleast this is interesting, less kek porn, and might get people into amature radio. Plus, who doesn't like a fun habbening thread to burn off stress because of how fucked up the world is.

We both know that the Turkey /russia thing is causing a massive uptick in USAF comms. We all know that there's not gonna be nukes. Shut the fuck up, go back to your ckek fetish threads, and let us have a little fun.

FUck yeah, opening some jonny walker black label for the fun of sourcing radios.

Yeah that's not a bad price for the kits at all... I forget the name of the one he was talking about. I'm looking for SDR kits that have a larger spectrum that at least cover down to 11175 (for the purposes of the Skyking listeners).

I saw it too.

It's probably just a tracking signal, so something far away can find the direction to the signal or triangulate it.

They appear and disappear all the time. It's a bit unusual one is on so briefly though.
