I didn't think of that, however there's an easy fix:
Simply install a drone computer into the jets and then while the operation is underway, have the drone pilots purposely look like they are crashing. The enemy will be confused, knowing that under Geneva Convention law they are unable to shoot at any of the soldiers parachuting in.
Then at the last second, when most of the troops have landed, have the drone pilots fly the jets and have them carry out attacks to cover the now on the ground soldiers.

I love how T*rks don't even consider the possibility that the aircraft was simply lost. You can't just look at the ground and see a big red line where you aren't supposed to cross. Its even harder in the air, where many times you can't see anything but a cloudbank or an endless expanse of unfamiliar terrain below you.
If the pilot lost electrical power, he would simply have to keep flying in a known direction until he found a landmark he recognized and go from there. Especially if he read his folding map wrong, IF he had one.
An electrical failure would result in the loss of GPS and comms, which would mean the only way he would know for sure that he was in restricted airspace was if a fighter pulled up next to him and made it clear he wasn't welcomed.
This is the exact reason why NATO has its aerial RoE state that when a lone aircraft enters restricted airspace, you MUST fly up there and visually identify the aircraft and try to challenge it to change course. Normal nations don't want to risk an international crisis and unnecessary loss of life just because one plane had a short its main bus and couldn't respond to radio hails.
Of course, Turkey had no interest in any of that and decided that instead of trying to divert the aircraft before engaging like a sensible person, they would just kill everyone aboard.
I'm not saying that equipment failure was the cause of the Russian fighter going into contested airspace, but it proves that the Turks had no interest in acting like civilized people and just wanted to blow shit up regardless of any possible circumstance.

If the aircraft had an electrical short or other failure in its comms systems, they could have sent a thousand warnings. The pilot would not have heard any of them. The only way to warn him would be fly up there, pull up to him, and signal him to follow. That is standard NATO protocol.
Obviously that didn't happen. They flew up and opened fire immediately. The pilot never knew what hit him and might have never known he was actually doing anything wrong. Again, its unlikely, but it is a possibility and it has happened before.

Their vehicle, their weapon, is disabled and they are defeated. Killing then is not necessary because they are already defeated, harmless, and surrendering to you.
