Hey /pol/, I've been thinking of a political science degree. I'm too dumb for my current major and I want to switch. What is the general opinion about a pol sci degree?

If you've got sales/negotiation skills and no morals you can major in poly sci, become a lobbyist and make some good money and ruin the country though.

I've been interested in money for a long time, one of the main reasons why I wanted to be in the medical field, that and trying to do something better than my family has. Trade school was always portrayed as being a bad decision during high school. Is it really that good?

Unless you're planning on being a lawyer its a shit degree and if you're planning on being a lawyer your should reconsider your future because that is not a good idea.

Some shitty intern tier/non profit/campaign jobs maybe. It's not impossible to land something good or something outside of the immediate field but I wouldn't bank on it. Understand that its kind of like philosophy, companies don't need to hire philosophers, they don't need to hire "political scientists" either and chances are if you have any skill in politics you can get your foot in the door without that degree. My wife has a BA in history and works in health care community outreach now and could probably run for city council someday from the connections she's made in that job. So liberal arts degrees are kind of interchangeable in that way but some of them have better plan A options than others.
