Point is that we use it because MOST of the time it's fairly quick and painless (as far as methods of execution go). It's hard to kill something painlessly 100% of the time (or even 90%), but slitting a camel's throat and watching it spasm to death in its own arterial flow is inferior to pretty much anything else.

As much as I hate islam, I don't see a problem with this. I have seen my grandad bleeding his pig to make sausage and all, or cut chicken heads. Of course, it's great that they try to make it painless and quick in slaughterhouses, but come on, it's just a natural act. What I'm against is livestock battery. The animal should have a nice life at least before serving their purpose. At least when I go hunting I know the animal had a nice life in nature.

In France conditions are very stricts. Animals have to be killed with a machine putting a big nail in their head for instant death. In halal stuff, they have to stun them but muslims don't give a shit and there are cases of cruelty in slaughterhouses. Muslim must slice the throat for their ritual, so the deal is to stun them, but some muslims argue it make the meat no longer halal etc...
In non halal slaughterhouses, this is not a problem because the nail technique is fast and make work faster so it's a win for everybody.
Western countries do have concern for this issue. Denmark banned hallal, most european countries have laws for ethic slaughtering. If some break the law you can't accuse the whole europeans.
