First of all, alcohol can't be illegal we already tried that, it's too easy to produce. and tobacco isn't shit it's hardly a drug, coffee should be a drug too if you consider tobacco one

i don't think the tobacco plant in its unprocessed state is harmful.
the problem: the curing process. the leaves spend months (sometimes years) sitting around curing, going through a series of smoke and heat treatments. this is where the really nasty carcinogenic compounds are introduced. this is why chewing and dip tobacco rots your jaw.

Legalized drugs would be better for everyone. Studies have shown how ending prohibition not only reduces income for violent gangs, but also benefits local businesses and internal revenue.
