How about the Visigoths and the roman empire, they were brought on as paid mercenaries, given their own land to control, albeit under Roman jurisdiction, but once their population became sizable enough and it was more profitable to take control they sacked Rome. Alright, so four points.
1. The law of the land to the natives was war. If one tribe was living in one place, and another tribe wanted that place, they killed each other. The winner got that land. We played by their rules. We won.
2. Are we going to give it back to the descendants tribe we took it from, then force them to give it to the descendants of the tribe they took it from ad infinitum? That's retarded. We would either have to pick a point in history where someone was the rightful owner then somehow find their descendants, or go back to the beginning.
3. Where is the beginning? Is the first person to walk on that land the owner? Or is the first person to claim that land the owner? Or what determines who the rightful owner should be?
4. Natives don't deserve shit. The most deserving owner is the one who owns it today by our rules.

We didn't wipe out natives, disease did. The actual number of natives who did in conflict with Europeans is like 35,000; cf 15,000 Europeans died in conflict with Natives.
Disease killed off 99%, and inter-tribal warfare killed off many more. But we, Europeans, saved many more lives of natives than we took via sharing our modern medicine and technology.
Also, we've always vetted refugees for ideology and intelligence. On Ellis Island we asked if the immigrants were anarchists and made them take intelligence tests. If they didn't satisfy the bare requirements they were sent back. This is all with consideration of the fact that we had strict quotas until the 1960s on how many persons per ethnic group could emigrate.
