I was in high school when 9/11 happened. I was in San Diego and went to a high school that was primarily 90% hispanic and I would say at least 20% of them lived across the border and came across the border every day for school.
When 9/11 happened I went to school and there were parties in the hallways, teenagers cheering, blasting of Mariachi music and Mexican flags waving because they were so happy this happened to the United States. The invasion of Iraq was in the spring of 2003, over a year and a half after 9/11. The prep and revving up of the war machine started in the latter half of 2002. Afghanistan was invaded in December 2001. UBL and al-Qaeda bombed a US Navy ship in Yemen in 2000, killing a bunch of sailors. The US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania were blown the fuck up in 1998 by UBL and al-Qaeda. UBL was the on the FBI most wanted list before 9/11.
