serious answer is that we have a massive financial sector, which makes us a net creditor (other countries owe us more in total than we owe to other countries in total). this list is pretty useless since it shows gross debt (total owed), and not net debt.
Communism for all. It is why our so-called world leaders, (both past and present) have saddled all first world nations with this debt...when the economies start becoming insolvent, that will enable government to step in and take full control of all country's economies.
