I would note it's ridiculous to even talk about this as if it is relevant to government. Acting is a profession people choose. If Asians are over represented in engineering and underrepresented in acting, that is a result of culture. There are no longer, as there were in the 30s and 40s, racial barriers to entry.

Cruz in particular is absolutely despised by the Chamber of Commerce controlled establishment. So is the Freedom Caucus. Mike Lee doesn't attract enough attention for the big names to care and Rand Paul appears to have been politically co-opted by Mitch McConnell to some degree (mostly to shut up about the establishment) while maintaining his core philosophy.
