The picture attached to this post contains the skull of KV55 which is a close relative of Tutankhamen.

It is suggested that the skull belongs to the heretic king Akhnaten or to a brother of Tutankhamen.

The Egyptian Pharaohs practiced inbreeding, which caused prognathism in their facial features.

> In ancient Egypt, royal women were believed to carry the bloodlines and so it was advantageous for a pharaoh to marry his sister or half-sister; in such cases a special combination between endogamy and polygamy is found. Normally, the old ruler's eldest son and daughter (who could be either siblings or half-siblings) became the new rulers.

This paper from the US Library of Medicine documents the effects of inbreeding upon facial features, its results show inbreeding seemed to increase the mean values of overjet, overbite, and vertical bite.

> Effect of inbreeding and endogamy on occlusal traits in human isolates.

This study of ethnic inbreeding within the Ashkenazim Jewish community explains why they retain distinctiveness.
> Bray, Steven M.; Mulle, Jennifer G.; Dodd, Anne F.; Pulver, Ann E.; Wooding, Stephen; Warren, Stephen T. (2010). "Signatures of founder effects, admixture, and selection in the Ashkenazi Jewish population"

> Ashkenazim distinctiveness comes from their ethnic endogamy (ethnic inbreeding), which allowed them to "mine" their ancestral gene pool in the context of relative reproductive isolation from European neighbors.

Around 6000 BC, Neolithic settlements appear all over Egypt.[16] Studies based on morphological,[17] genetic,[18][19][20][21][22] and archaeological data[13][23][24][25][26] have attributed these settlements to migrants from the Fertile Crescent in the Near East

North Africa has a native Neanderthal population. Neanderthal populations settled in North Africa and Egypt, there is huge amounts of archaeological evidence of them in the Sahara.

> A 2012 study found that North Africans have a Neanderthal admixture rate lying between that of Eurasians (highest) and Sub-Saharan Africans (lowest).[10] It has also shown a great variation within North Africans themselves, depending primarily on the amount of Eurasian versus sub-Saharan African ancestry.[10] However, there are indications that their Neanderthal admixture is not solely contributed by Eurasian introgression.

> Sánchez-Quinto, F.; Botigué, L.R.; Civit, S.; Arenas, C.; Ávila-Arcos, M.C.; Bustamante, C.D.; et al. (2012). "North African Populations Carry the Signature of Admixture with Neandertals". PLoS ONE 7 (10): e47765. doi:10.1371/journal.pone.0047765. PMC 3474783. PMID 23082212

>Egypt died after the Old Kingdom
That's absolutely not true, it indeed saw some periods of decline, but to say it "died" is pretty preposterous. Ramses II is one of Egypt's greatest Pharaohs, and he was from the New Kingdom. The fact that he had recent Asiatic ancestry, doesn't mean that he was a foreigner, Egypt had saw waves of migration from the near east throughout its history, it was founded on it, that's where agriculture came from.

Egypt DID get less centralised after the Old Kingdom, so it became more difficult to do nation-wide mega projects like the Giza Pyramids, but still various dynasties managed to leave impressive legacies despite it.

The entire history of Egypt can be summed up thus;

Egypt is a Balloon, the Eurasians blown in air, and Egypt expands.

After awhile Egypt deflates, then Eurasians blown in air again, then Egypt expands again.

It was a shame that Egypt couldn't tie a knot on itself, it just deflates again and becomes a Granary.

Egypt IS a Eurasian country/civilization, North Africans are all Eurasians (with a little sub-Saharan admixture South of the Sahara). And all nations rise and fall throughout their history (look at a world map pre- and post-WWII, and that's just a one-century-worth of history!), but nothing on the planet has endured as long as Egypt, a country that had remained unified throughout its 5100 history!

Egypt BTFO'd them a LOT MORE in return, the consecutive waves only happened by the 3rd intermediate period (nobody had ever occupied the whole of Egypt until that point in history), Dynastic Egypt was already pretty dead by then.

Where? Ramses didn't defeat the Hittites. Only around Thutmosis III's period did Egypt have successes against the Mitanni and Syrians.

The only reason that the Egyptians were able to create the New Kingdom was due to the Hittites sacking Babylon.

The Hittites created the environment for expansion into the Levant by Egypt.
