School shootings happen all the time, it's just that most of the time it's like one or two victims and nobody cares. The overall number has been increasing pretty dramatically, but it may be more due to an increase in mainstream media reporting every single event that happens now, where a few decades ago a shooting where one or two people were injured in a school was largely ignored by the rest of the nation and it was just a local tragedy instead of a national one.
There are one or two really bad ones per decade as far back as the 60s.
