While this story is very endearing and a miracle of science, it is also a tad bit creepy and also one of the many reasons why I will never be an organ donor. I don't want my face taken off and worn by someone else like Leatherface does in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
I also have heard horror stories of doctors letting some patients flat line and not trying all they could to save them in order to harvest their organs. If I am not an organ donor than they have nothing to gain from not trying their damndest.
Also I wonder if the almighty might not be keen on taking out body parts and moving them about as our bodies are temples of God.
For anyone here who is an organ donor I give you props but I just can't do it, especially with stories like this as wonderful as they are for the recipient.

No. Databases mess it up all the time. Here's a fun fact: once you sign that donor card, you sign all your rights away, for example your family's request for a repeated brain scan. Here's another fun fact: only skin and bones are donated when you're dead. They're harvesting everything else while you're on life support and have been diagnosed with brain death (a medical term most countries only recognized about 15 years ago). Here's one more: during harvesting, they administer a muscle relaxant to render the body immobile but no anesthesia(because that would make it appear that the body is alive). And here's one more: there are many cases of misdiagnosed brain death.

The recipient looks almost nothing like the original owner the face. Even if my theoretical recipient ended up bearing an uncanny resemblance to me, I'm sure my parents would be happy that I at least didn't die completely in vain. The only bad part about my parents seeing someone walking around with my face is that it would feel like I never truly died, and they would be worried that this doppelganger would sneak into their basement, become a NEET, and continue to torment them as I am currently doing.

im a nurse and that is not true. i dont even know if any of my patients are, we dont deal with that. only people that do not want to be res will not be. organ donations are based of lists so its not like a dr is going to take a pancreas and give it to someone for money.
