Even though it was only a small number of the Catholic church, everyone understand there was a problem with the church and demanded accountability. There was a huge movement across the Catholic church demanding change in every fucking level of the Catholic clergy. There were protests outside of churches and cathedrals, calls for bishops to resign, some priests and bishops had criminal charges raised. In fact it's widely believed that Pope Benedict was forced to resign for his mishandling of the scandal. All because Catholics refused to tolerate that shit from their own church, even if it was just a small minority committing the abuse.
Now what happens in Islam when there's a pattern of violent terrorism and extremism originating from the religion? Nothing. No calls for change. No protests outside of mosques. No demands for Islamic clergy to resign, no matter how much they preach hate and encourage terrorism. If muslims really fucking cared about how they're perceived, if they truly believed Islam was a religion of peace THEY WOULD DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. But they don't. So that's why I have zero respect for any of them. Every fucking muslim is responsible for what happened in Paris. Because every fucking one of them condones and tolerates a culture of violence and extremism on every level of their church.

On the other hand, we have the Apologists, the PC Liberals, and a majority of moderate Muslims who either purposely skirt around the controversial issues OR, more commonly, flat out deny any involvement whatsoever of the Islamic faith in the actions of extremists. This false notion is held by so many people (Reza Aslan, Glenn Greenwald, etc.) who are quick to jump to the defense of Islam in its every aspect, and I think is completely deconstructive. When people flat out reject the idea of Islamic faith acting as a contributing factor in these terrorist attacks, they are also guilty of committing a generalization, saying: "Muslims don't do these things. Those people aren't REALLY Muslims." and this will never lead to any kind of critical examination or reform of their faith because they fail to see the connection. The fact is, these wrong ideas held by both parties are often perpetuated by each other and quickly derail into personal attacks, cries of bigotry/Islamaphobia, and irrational thinking as to discontinue ANY form of reasonable exchange of ideas.

As a white male who works daily in a predominately Muslim community, Muslims are by far better Americans and people than xtians. I grew up in a backwards Midwest xtian community with no diversity, and people were REALLY nice to you until you did/said/believed/were something they disagreed with - then you were slandered. It was awful. African-Americans, Muslims (post-9/11 talk in that town was awful), gay, etc.
The Muslim community? Incredibly amazing. I can't even begin to tell you how nice these people are, no matter who you are and what you believe in. And most of them are refugees or immigrants, and they are incredibly thankful to be here. When I got married, they bought me gifts, and all of them are low-income, but they didn't care - they said it was important to show their affection for my wife and I. Most of my family didn't bother to send back their RSVP or a card.
And if you think YOU dislike ISIS...you know how pissed people get when they see Westboro Church holding anti-gay signs? Now, imagine Westboro was ruthlessly killing people in the streets and sending out graphic videos of murders and executions, saying this is what your faith believes in.
