The city itself is amazing. It's the best city in Scotland and quite possibly the best in the UK. It's small enough that you can get anywhere you need to in half an hour on foot, there is a huge variety of things to do and see and a lot of great places to visit. I've also met a lot of great people here too. It has all the varieties you would expect from London with only a tiny fraction of the minorities, though it is still one of the most diverse places in Scotland.
Ed uni is very high ranked and is an excellent research university, but the student satisfaction leaves a lot to be desired and the quality of tutors varies massively.
The student body is varied enough but the political scene is retarded. It's full of the most retarded, leftist, SJW, bluepilled, modern liberal etc keks you will ever find in Scotland. I'm not exaggerating - they fucking voted Green in the polls. The student union is run by fucking crazy leftists and the SJW bollocks people laugh at is slowly becoming a reality here.
But all in all, Edinburgh's lovely and you'll be going to a really great university if you decide to come here, idiots aside.

The skiing is quite good provided the weather cooperates, but there was so little snowfall last year the ski season was nonexistent. The costs can be quite steep, yes, but provided you avoid Grouse Mnt the runs are worthwhile. Seymour would be my recommendation for a local mountain.
Vancouver is quite generic as far as cities go, but the amenities are plentiful enough to keep you entertained for awhile.
