I think a lot of the hate that comes here way is totally unwarranted. I don't think she's especially funny, then again I don't even enjoy a lot of stand up comedians, but some of her material has at least made me smile.
These days, everything new has to be touted as 'groundbreaking' or 'the greatest of all time' to make headlines and grab attention. Every book, every song, every movie... it's just an advertising gimmick and it's no different with people. Comedy central used these claims to promote her show, hoping that she, like so many before her, could fill the void left by Dave Chapelle who, at least more than his successors, has a claim to truly be 'groundbreaking.'
Like I said, I'm not a huge fan and I don't think a lot of her material is especially funny, something I would say about 95% of comedians I've listened to, but I think a lot of the hatred that comes toward her is unwarranted.
