I mean, if that happened, the backlash would have most citizens out of those positions and then illegal immigrants would take advantage of all the free spaces. Since automation isn't a big thing yet and nobody but them would do those jobs, that would be a big reason they could use to justify their stay. I'll try to explain this in the simplest way I can. The amount of jobs that a company has is based on demand for their product. If the demand can be met by 5 people, you would not hire 10 people. If you can pay them less, you just pay those 5 people less.

No, but most companies are already near maximum market coverage. They don't need more people, since even if they make more things, they're just not going to sell.
