I worked some time for a Korean company and I can say that they literally spend their whole day (10-12 hours AT LEAST in average) at work. But they accomplish little. That is not to offend any Korean, but their work culture is simply different. They are not very efficient and not productive. Most of the task my supervisors gave me to "do in one or two days" were done by noon on the first day with reviewing it twice.
Many of them do a lot of private things during their work time and many of them waste their time doing mindless tasks.
They are not organized and do not plan well beforehand. Problem is that nobody can decide anything on their own. They have to keep the hierarchy. So if clerk A wants to do something, supervisor B says: Ok, do it that way, but I will talk with supervisor C. Supervisor B goes to C to ask him if it is ok what A does and he says: No, do it anew my way, but I will ask boss D. And so on. At the end, clerk A does the whole thing at least 3-4 times and gets punished for handing his work in so late. Also, he (and all the others) have to work overtime all the time.
Higher levels of management basically sit around all day watching golf on TV (sic!). After 10-12 hours they go home and nobody can leave before them.
