>private individuals

this isn't even news m8, we have known for ages that sympathisers all over the world have been sending them money

what we need is evidence of government funding, that would be a big story. Unless Putin has evidence about specific indivuals like Saudi royal family or something

President Vladimir Putin says he’s shared Russian intelligence data on Islamic State financing with his G20 colleagues: the terrorists appear to be financed from 40 countries, including some G20 member states.
During the summit, “I provided examples based on our data on the financing of different Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) units by private individuals. This money, as we have established, comes from 40 countries and, there are some of the G20 members among them,” Putin told the journalists.

Putin also spoke of the urgent need to curb the illegal oil trade by IS.

"I’ve shown our colleagues photos taken from space and from aircraft which clearly demonstrate the scale of the illegal trade in oil and petroleum products," he said.

“The motorcade of refueling vehicles stretched for dozens of kilometers, so that from a height of 4,000 to 5,000 meters they stretch beyond the horizon," Putin added, comparing the convoy to gas and oil pipeline systems.

It’s not the right time to try and figure out which country is more and which is less effective in the battle with Islamic State, as now a united international effort is needed against the terrorist group, Putin said.

>a five hundred year period of decay?

Caesar merely laid the fundements for the Imperium Romanum. The Pax Romana, which followed imperium and lasted around 180 years, was one of the most prosperous and glorious years Rome had known. It was the first time in centuries that the empire was truly at peace internally so they could fully focus on conquering new territory. As a consequence trade flourished, law and order was established throughout most of Europe and Rome was wealthier than ever.

You do realize that Octavian turned it into an autocracy with only a veneer of Republicanism, right? An autocracy that eventually led to all Roman state organs devolving.

Caesar's deification directly led to the silliness of the Year of Five Emperors and beyond. It directly led to emperor's like Nero and the nonsense of Hadrian deifying the boy he was fucking.

It was actually Augustus (Octavius,) not Julius, which laid the foundation for the Empire. In fact, Julius FAILED to create the Empire. (He was assassinated after all.) It took many long and bloody civil wars before Augustus finally got shit together.

Augustus was a political super-genius, like James Madison, where-as Julius was inept at politics, because he mistook his prowess as political ability.

>>55896676

The Republic was fucked when it ignore Income Inequality. The Legions became paupers because there was no more (good) land left to Conquer, and Oligarchs rose to prominence to bribe the senate.

Augustus figured out how to get the Legionaries paid, and so they went with him, against the Senate. In important ways, Rome's legal transformation was ad-hoc and sloppy, but the sheer difficulty of this feat was understandable so.

People truly believe that having large and hungry masses somehow cannot constitute a security threat. It's fucking baffling, when half of the World's Empires died from this reason. It knocks them so many of them down like clockwork.
>>
>>55896676
the Republic was doomed. It was an oligarchy rather than a republic, and it favoured only a few ruling families.
The empire was maybe more democratic than the Republic, at least at local level, where in Italian and greek democtratic cities elections were still held.
Then again, the government system doesn't alone define if a country is in decay. What is sure is that the most glorious era of Rome was between 100 BC and 200 AD, with the II century commonly considered "seculum aureum"

>The elites know that now
>Now.

Actually....no. They kind of don't.

Go talk to anyone who writes the laws. They feel pity for the poor. Or. If they are wingnut. They want to abolish the welfare clauses all together. Because Ronald Reagan will fix the markets if it wasn't for those meddling democrats. There is a dangerous level of ignorance, and because our colleges are fucked, it's impossible to teach people how to correct it.

Inequality is fine. The real metric is mobility. A population with a highly mobile system will, inevitably, find its greatest men serving it. Mobility, however, is dependent on increasing economic efficency, which we haven't done since Jack Welch. And, despite what we may think, Shareholder Capitalism isn't going to work much longer. (As opposed to the other forms of Captialism, which even some of the PhDs at Yale probably aren't even aware of.)

And Welfare actually was kind of responsible for the decline of the Empire. So the invention of Welfare creates just as many problems at it solved. Basic Income would wreck the US.

And let's not kid ourselves about Citizens United. And let's not kid ourselves over the fact that if anyone tried to rectify this problem, Daddy Koch is going to get DHS to stop any change from happening.

The Elites like to think of themselves as the Hapsburgs, but the Hapsburgs understood things far more successfully than anyone in DC ever could.

>But I gave up on that now....so good luck America. I'm sure there is someone smart enough like me to save the Republic, who won't also get hunted down for contradicting the Oligarchs.

Seriously, though, if the Elite think they can Welfare this problem, they are mad....is that what they are thinking? Like. I wouldn't be surprised if that's their master plan. Because I never thought that highly of them to begin with.

The more money that is thrown to the poor, the less the poor have to work, which means the more welfare they need, which causes them to work even less...etc. etc. etc.

Eventually. "False Demand" will eat into a declining supply, causing massive good shortages, worse than the Soviets. It will create Bread Lines under Capitalism. (That's kind of funny, though.)

I understand what you mean with the fact that Augustus laid the foundation for the Empire, however it was Julius Caesar nonetheless who made it possible for Augustus to become emperor. Caesar had already consolidated most of the power within himself. Augustus "inherited" the power (but still needed to eliminate all rivals). The consolidation of power however was already done by Julius Caesar.

Nonetheless, as you say, Augustus was the better politician. He knew exactly how to remain in power (until his death and maybe even after!!). He was the one who started the Pax Romana and guaranteed prosperous times for Rome through his brilliant policies and in general systems to keep the power consolidated for decades to come. Truly a genius politician who is underrated in my opinion in modern discourse.

Maybe we could agree that both Julius Caesar and Augustus had their fair share in laying the foundations for the Imperium Romanum.

>>55905098

Alright. Maybe I am being too hard on Julius. I see your point.
